50k per year (net) with 10 years of emergency fund. Enough to live on but not so much that you get lazy about managing your finances.
Maybe 75k is the magic number because at that figure you are not desperate. You have the choice between new and repair. Quality vs cheap. You have more options, not to say you'll go with the most expensive because you can but, it is an available choice.
