Fund an account with 5K and you can retire next month ... 50K to 23 million in 2 weeks ... Never going to happen with real money, not even close. You should be happy if you even make any profit in your first weeks. Please stop dreaming about those big returns and come back to reality. Just open a small account already and just try it out. No point in making millions in demo when can try as many times as you want without any real consequences or emotions, if it would mean anything we would all be retired by now.
I live in Ireland so funding an account is not so easy with wire transfers etc. As for your statement about it not being possible, Gain capital has the closest demo you could ever get to live trading, so if I see the figures in front of me on a reliable platform, I believe good money can be made once the usual rules of trading are followed. I try to maintain a positive outlook, otherwise why bother with trading if you contantly think there's no money to be made. What's the point then.
Of course you should have a positive outlook, but your expectations are borderline insane.. Classic beginners mistake. But please report back when you are live, i would happily admit i was wrong if you can prove me wrong. Now stop dreaming of those fake millions and open an account . You could probably be up and running somewhere next week if everything checks out.
There are a lot of people here who are genuinely trying to be kind and provide useful advice. At this point you're starting to be a bit obtuse to those well meaning efforts. A positive outlook is that you can do better than the average long term buy and hold stock market return of around 8% per year. If you're super optimistic, you might think 30% or 40% per year. The idea that you could make $23M off of $50K in a few weeks is light years beyond positive outlook to full on delusional. Sorry, but that would make you a better trader than anyone who's ever traded.....by many orders of magnitude. It would take and extreme amount of either hubris or ignorance to believe that anyone who's never trade is many orders of magnitude better than anyone ever in history. Again, do a little reading and you'll realize that you're effectively like a guy who's never studied medicine waltzing in to a brain surgeon conference and claiming that you can do a brain surgery with 100% survival that usually has a 5% survival rate....except you're being many times more unreasonable than that. Pointing that out to you is a kind thing to do, not negative and not mean spirited.
As i have told you before a demo environment can NEVER realistically show you large market order fills. Demo orders do not impact the market and they can never guess the impact. Don't believe me? Try for yourself. Open a large trade with market order, lets say 500 contracts for NQ. Your order will be filled instantly with no slippage. Impossible in the real market. Brokers mentioning the platform has a realistic demo environment only applies to limit orders. The software tries to guess at what place you would be in the queue and instead of filling the limit order instantly when price traded at your limit price, it waits until at least x amount of contracts traded. Still not realistic, but better than nothing.
Sorry but that is quite impossible to start with $50K and make $23M in two weeks trading 30 Year Treasury Bond calendar spreads. Hell, you couldn’t do that with flat price. Oil, Electricity, Cocaine... wouldn’t matter. No Bueno.
Thanks Bone. At the time I was using the desktop demo platform with this broker. I opened a new demo yesterday with Apex futures, here is a screenshot of the current activity I have going on. A calendar spread with 5 contracts of E-mini S&P 500...
If you want actual input to know if your trading, performance and execution is realistic you could do a journal. Post your trades and PnL every day, that way experienced spreaders like bone and others can see it and maybe comment on what you are doing. Anyway, going live is the only way to figure things out. Have you selected a broker yet?
Yes that sounds like a good idea. I have opened a live account with Apex futures a few weeks back, but I have yet to fund it. Mainly because the hassle of sending funds from Ireland has put me off thus far. But I intend to get around that somehow. I am weary of where and how I transfer money, but I am itching to get started and start small to dip a toe in the game so to speak.
