If you are a well disciplined rules based trader, outside stresses shouldn't affect your trading.

Well, irrespective of rule-following ability, persons differ in how much strain they experience from the same amount of stress. Definitions of stress and strain from physics: Stress is the force applied to a material, divided by the material's cross-sectional area. Strain is the deformation or displacement of material that results from an applied stress.
In today's common parlance, stress is used for both the external event and the internal response, i.e., strain. It would be great to be a Stoic sage and be able to cast off the external stresses and experience no strain, but realistically how much casting off one can do depends a lot on how outrageous the "slings and arrows" are.

Learn what professional atheletes do. Of all people, they are probably similar to traders in that they have to perform at their job regardless of what's going with their lives.

I personally love CR7's work ethic. Young dudes are just matching his record at MU when he was was there in his late 30s!

Then again, Tom Brady started to fuck up after his divorce lol.

The point is, you have to be somewhat of a psycho to trade well if you trade manually with all the shit that's going on.

I recommend you watch Pumping Iron. Arnold talks about ignoring outside factors and just focus on your goals.

From my experience its a lot more likely my trading goes well when my life is in good order , I am having some fun, & content/grateful for where I am at.

Its important to have a life outside of trading or you will become a shut in PnL slave.
