I'm not sure. The best way I can put it is that I just kept removing more and more complexity until the very simplest strategy remained.
Polls/threads like this are the reason that so many people fail at trading. It's because they do not have reasonable expectations. Some newbie just starting out isn't likely to make $1M their first year, but that is probably what they are dreaming of. They would be doing great to make $10K just starting out. If newbies would do the math on how much they actually require to supplement or replace their current income, figure out how much they need to earn each trading day, how much they need to withdraw into their bank account to cover their living expenses, and keep their expectations realistic, things would probably work out better for the longevity of their career. Myself, I am retired, I receive several pensions and don't really need the money. Trading keeps my mind occupied, keeps me busy doing something challenging that doesn't take up too much of my time, since I also enjoy doing other things throughout the day. But I'm not going to lie, I do like having extra money, in case if I want to buy some girlie things or I want to invest in something, or do whatever, I can do that without worrying. Some of you guys need to stop with your sexist posts, they are offensive. I was here barely a week and one of you called me an offensive derogatory slur, because you perceive trading is a man's world. It puts me off even coming to this forum at all. Seeing the crass ways that you carry on I'd be amazed if you even have a woman at all, let alone any Lamborghini. Have a nice day everybody.
I see you are using IB from your little screenshot so that answers my earlier question, you aren't doing HFT. So.. wow. You seriously expect people to believe that you have effectively no losing days? Even top tier HFT firms that trade thousands of instruments can scarcely achieve this, and you are just trading ES in your IB account. I honestly don't believe what you are saying is possible. But if you are for real I suppose you won't have any problems posting a screenshot of your equity curve from IB account management.
I am not sure why you think I would care about it. If you don't believe it, don't believe it. It's not hard to have no losing days in this volatility. Right now, it's hard to lose money. Really, really hard.
Those are trade secrets but it's mostly because I worked all my life and I planned for the future starting at an early age. BTW, I'm a lady. You may address me as SISTER.
I know having no or almost no losing days in daytrading is possible. You need a very good system, a small account, at least a few trades each day, and a double system. I personally trade a double system. That means I daytrade a system to take the big waves, and a second system that is only used after a losing trade to recover quickly the loss in smaller trades . I have very close stops, and each time I get stopped out (which almost never happens as I get out before the stop is reached), I recover from that loss in 1 or maximum 2 trades. It is necessary to do a few trades per day, if not you end up with a losing day as you cannot recover the loss. So normally I stay each day positive. Positive means above zero but can also be a big profit. I noticed also that I give normally back less than 10% of my profits in losing trades. 10 years ago I would not have believed that this is possible. But I understand now the markets much better. So I believe @nooby_mcnoob , or at least believe that it is possible. But only for the happy few. Top tier HFT firms cannot work in that way as it is limited in size and also needs a lot of focus just on the ES. These HFT firms automate things and cannot focus on each item like we focus on the ES. They work with a kind of "mass product". Trading billions comes at a cost, they cannot work "artisanal" so they lose a lot of "efficiency". They follow thousands of items on dozens of exchanges.
Exactly. And don't get it confused, I have not yet hit a 7 figure year. This year MIGHT be the one, might not be. But I know for sure, I am and will be a profitable trader for the rest of my life.
Logical alias as most golddiggers are female... I hope you are profitable as trader, because on ET most people cannot afford a golddigger.
