I would you like to start trading options on futures as a secondary source of income. I'm not looking to making millions of dollars overnight but pickup a few bucks here and there from writing credit spreads. I've been researching and paper trading so I think I have a good understanding of how to approach succesful trading. My question is is $5k enough to get started? I'd probably put on 1-2 spreads in a given month and let those expire or buy back before looking for new opportunities. Margin requirements are my biggest worry, assuming good money management.
$5k is fine to get started and learn lessons. better to lose $5k than $100k! make sure you dont risk too much on each trade! keep em small while learning.
For what your're planning I'd say yes. But its all relative and a guesstimate without meeting you and personality profiles.
