With what? A bankroll of 2000 dollars? Which is probably what the general population can afford. We have to be a little realistic.
IT consultant £30 per hour, in a good hour I'm pullng in say $200 on the low side, so already making more, but I let losers run against me occasionally, which i need to solve first. $4000 area account so that's 5% in an hour at times. Took me 10years area to stop fighting the trend and finally only trend trade, makes it soooo much easier.
Million is tricky, trading futures keep your margin to the limit 50k to trade $100 per pt, run 2 positions 100k, 200 per pt? No point having much more cant use it. So thats 5000pts per year, 100 week, 20 per day. Okay doesnt sound too bad, but you lose the expotential growth that small accounts give.
On its own those numbers are pretty meaning less. What kind of leverage is being used to generate that return? What kind of drawdowns do you expect on the way to 2000%? Can you make that return on a $10 million trading account, or are you talking about a 10K account.
well, lets give some context: no leverage on stocks, max 8x on Forex 1-2% max drawdown on the account and very occasionally as if the trade is not doing what is expected it is better to get out and occasionally reverse Why would I want to do that? I would never retail trade with a 10M$ account as I would have way more money than I need. But let's say I have a 50K account, that's about 250K to 1M by the end of the year, right? now I believe it is possible to scale up (especially on forex) to a 500K account that would potentially make between 2.5M and 10M a year...I won't know what to do with those money so I couldn't care less... at the end of the day, I chose to trade full time to gain time for myself not to make a fortune...
500% to 2000% a year with max 1 to 2% drawdown. May be in 1999 someone did that, but nothing near that kind of Risk/Reward can be done on a regular basis. You will be lucky to make 100% a year with 10% drawdowns (10:1), is the absolute highest R/R you should might expect as the worlds top trader, and is outstanding. 100% a year with 33% (3:1) drawdowns is considered really good, a good goal for most traders.
