Hey guys, I applied to a prop firm with capital allocation. They asked me to fill out some paperwork for compliance. How long does it usually take to join a Prop firm? (weeks, months??) Here's my understanding: You submit whatever is needed. They list you as Class B or C partner. You do fingerprints and fill out U-4. They schedule you for Series 57 exam, you take it. Once you pass it you're good to trade. But how long does the whole process take? I filled out normal information (maybe for background purposes) and been waiting for almost a month. They asked if I was associated with few companies, I said no, and didn't hear from them since. Should I join another prop firm?
I was able to trade right away when I joined Bright. I think it took me a month or two to take the S7. Mav is right, it really depends how the prop firm is set up.
Assuming it's Hold Brothers, then why would you choose them given the SEC action. It depends on what you want from the prop firm, mentoring, capital, development, leverage, hft, research, the process would take weeks to months. Looking at the two mentioned, Hold and Bright, makes our partner prop firm look like Renaissance. Seriously, traders actually use these, apparently people will try anything for an edge.
