Best year ever with the massive increase in volatility.....made some very big bets the last twelve months in various markets and those trades have worked out well. I am up over 400% in profits this year over last year and as a result I will be taking a break from the daily time intensive intraday trading for about 8 to 10 months. My most profitable trades this year were heavy short ES and Rydex Inverse S&P500 positions initiated in November 2007 but scaled out over the spring/summer/fall of 2008. My oil QM LONG and then SHORT trades were also exceptionally profitable and rank second for 2008 income after the S&P index plays.
Down -80% Sold all longs back in jan-may and took a bashing... Started trading technicals and charts, and the blood loss has stopped *phew* Still not a good situation to be in.
I ll second the input by lescor. diversified in systems! wish it could last! 3 to 4 x better than any prior year!
