yes, a 20 million dollar position is much more realistic, but I am not sure what brokers offer 400:1 and have decent liquidity to be able to handle that as a single trade, but I am sure they are out there
It is indeed a little bit more realistic, and the market can certainly bear 20 million orders through liquid hours. I don't personally know of any brokers that will do that kind of leverage on that kind of size, however, and I somewhat doubt that any legitimate broker would let you take such a large position on such small margin.
Any broker that allows this would not be my broker. I don't want to participate in another Sentinel or Refco
Yeah, but it's not that simple: to get 400:1 leverage you need to have an account less than say 10k, so your maximum position is under 4mil - hardly much more risk to the dealer
odl gives 100:1 leverage, max deal size 100 mio, i have done 20 mio on there mt-4 platform with no problems.
dunitlongpole How hard would it be to get 400:1 leverage on a $1,000,000 trade? I know it is incredibly stupid to use that much leverage, so please, no lectures. I just told a friend it could be done, and he doesn't believe me... I guess if the MM had enough customers placing orders against your order, they might place it. Its just about having both sides of the trade covered..
