The lefty states and prosecutors- I give LA as Exhibit A- also rig the system and the data to show that it is reducing crime. If decriminalize a whole pantload of crimes and then argue that crime is down that makes the lefty prosecutors look good when in fact there are just more unacknowledge crimes. If police stop even bothering to apprehend or arrest on crimes because the prosecutor will just dismiss them, then that makes the lefty prosecutor policies look good on paper because there are fewer arrests. Out in the real world, though, where quite a few people live, it is getting worse.
The Only Good Soros Prosecutor Is a Defeated Soros Prosecutor Soros prosecutors are refusing to charge criminals for shoplifting, vagrancy, and entire categories of misdemeanors. In Chicago, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx allows theft under $1,000 to go unpunished. In Manhattan, District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. refuses to enforce laws against prostitution. In Baltimore, State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has unilaterally declared the war on drugs “over” and is refusing to criminally charge drug dealers and heroin addicts, in the middle of the worst drug crisis in American history. For a time, Los Angeles DA George Gascon even stopped enforcing laws against disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and making criminal threats. In cities where they’ve taken office, progressive prosecutors coddle even violent, career criminals, often agreeing to sweetheart deals and routinely circumventing three-strikes laws. The city of San Francisco, where Chesa Boudin is the district attorney, provides a tragic case study in what can happen as a result. Last year, a career criminal named Troy McAlister faced a well-deserved life sentence as a result of California’s three-strikes law. His long and violent rap sheet included multiple robberies, thefts, and an attempted carjacking. Instead of permanently taking this criminal off the streets, Chesa Boudin cut a deal with McAlister that resulted in his release. McAlister went on to commit a series of crimes leading to three separate arrests. Boudin refused to charge him each time. Then, on New Year’s Eve last year, McAlister stole a car, robbed a bakery, and then ran over two women crossing the road. One was a 60-year-old homeless woman named Elizabeth Platt. The other was a 27-year-old Japanese immigrant named Hanako Abe. Both women died from their injuries. Hanako, Elizabeth, and many other Americans have lost their lives because Chesa Boudin and Soros prosecutors like him refuse to do their job.
Manhattan’s Soros-Backed DA Won’t Seek Life for Cop Killers, Terrorists Alvin Bragg issued a memo on Jan. 3 that forbade staff from seeking life without parole sentences and broadly discouraged them from seeking sentences beyond 20 years. A $1 million contribution from Soros helped Bragg secure a narrow 4-point victory last June in the Democratic primary. "My commitment to making incarceration a matter of last resort is immutable," Bragg's memo reads. Bragg's election is the biggest victory yet for Soros and his Justice and Public Safety PAC, which has helped elect soft-on-crime candidates in Chicago, Philadelphia, and suburban Washington, D.C. Manhattan is uniquely visible as the economic and media capital of the nation, meaning Bragg's new approach—and Soros's criminal justice philosophy—will attract attention nationally and around the world. Crimes that qualify for life without parole sentences in New York state penal law include first-degree murder, terrorism, criminal possession of chemical and biological weapons, assassination of police officers, and molesting and murdering a child. Defendants in those cases would likely serve prison terms in the range of 20 years or less, if Bragg's office pursues incarceration at all. Under the new policy, the maximum sentence Manhattan prosecutors are advised to seek in cases that can't be reviewed by a parole board is 20 years. There is a carveout for "exceptional circumstances," which are not defined in the memo.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/a...r_records_because_of_soros_effect_146884.html The deadly drumbeat of the Soros Effect goes on elsewhere: Under its Soros DA, Jackson, Miss., saw a 53.7% spike in murders from 2019 to 2020, when it notched a record 128 homicides. In 2021, the city’s murder record has already been broken, with Jackson on course to log 141 murders by year’s end. Milwaukee, the metro area which includes Waukesha, saw a jaw-dropping 94% rise in murders from 2019 to 2020, when it posted a record 190. The bad news continues in 2021, which has already set another new record with 200 murders, and that’s before the final December report. Metro Orlando got hammered with a 39% increase from 2019 to 2020. Phoenix saw a 44% rise from 2019 to 2020. St. Louis, already burdened with the nation’s highest murder rate, suffered an additional 35% rise from 2019 to 2020. Hyper-violent Shreveport, La., witnessed a 78.4% increase for the 2019-2020 period. Los Angeles, with its super-woke DA, George Gascón, is on track to see murders rise 51.2% from 2019 through 2021. Liberal-hip Austin, having elected Soros-backed DA Jose Garza only a year ago, is now on pace to close 2021 with a record 89 homicides – a staggering 85.4% increase over 2020. Albuquerque, N.M.’s murder rate is on course, through the close of 2021, to register an 89% increase since 2018, when its Soros DA, Raul Torrez, took office. Baltimore, America’s second-most deadly city, experienced a horrific 63% increase in murders in 2016, the year after Soros-supported DA Marilyn Mosby took command. It has stayed at that deadly level ever since and will likely close out 2021 with 346 murders. Under super-progressive, Soros-backed DA Chesa Boudin, San Francisco is projected to end 2021 with 57 murders – a 39% increase since 2019. In addition, a wave of smash-and-grab mass robberies has shaken the city to its liberal core and unraveled any conventional notion of civil order. One could argue that Boudin’s brief tenure has done more to undermine San Francisco’s once-thriving brick-and-mortar retail sector than Amazon and the Internet itself. It’s hard to fathom the thought process behind Soros’s devastating assault on America’s inner cities, where the vast majority of murder victims are poor, struggling minorities – the very people whom the billionaire investor and his progressive DAs claim to support. In addition, because of the legal and financial sophistication with which Soros distributes his largess, it is infuriatingly hard to identify all the district attorneys and Defund the Police groups that have been nurtured with Soros dollars.
Manhattan DA refuses to discuss latest outrage over soft-on-crime policies Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Wednesday refused to answer questions about how his progressive new policies let a career criminal walk free on mere misdemeanor charges for an alleged armed robbery. Arriving to his office in Lower Manhattan early Wednesday, the new top prosecutor was grilled on The Post’s front-page story about William Rolon, the wanted ex-con whose armed robbery charges were downgraded to misdemeanors as per Bragg’s “Day One” memo. “I’m not going to discuss an open matter. Thank you,” he told The Post before walking into his office.
