How "Free" should the internet be?

  1. A topic that could be discussed elsewhere on ET also probably but I thought it to have enough merit top discuss in the economy section.

Marc Faber recently blasted people putting his newsletter on the internet for free, and similar newscontent get's linked around on the internet quite often also on ET.

Obviously the complains from the music/movie/software industry regarding piracy are well known.

The music industry says they are getting robbed, critics say it was a huge sham charging 20$ for a CD with only 2 good songs on.

Now as people discus global economics often the abuse of patent rights in the east get's mentioned so I was wondering to what extend this was a hypocritical issue to bring up, when you download all the movies you watch for free yourself for instance.

Also, how do you see this trend progress and how should it progress?

    Cheers.:)
