how does the trend form?

  1. I am a day trader

I wonder how the trend forms

is it propelled by the market maker or by the retail trader?

how to collect the lots and propel to what price target?

    how to exit ?

  2. If you are talking a serious trend and not a minor "wavelet" then:

It is propelled by the market itself. It is moved by expectations, interest rates, etc. When something like the S&P 500 futures moves, it moves largely because it has 500 individual stocks that are each doing things. Like the flop of Yahoo and the buoyancy of Microsoft or the recent rise of Google.

    There are no magic beans.

  3. You have a bunch of people wanting to trade in a certain direction, more than the other side.
