How do you plan/prepare for your trading in 2017? (Trump era)

Discussion in 'Trading' started by Sam Farmagham, Dec 30, 2016.

  1. Personally I believe it is going to be an unstable and unpredictable market with no clear vision on markets direction overall. As Trump has mentioned many times he likes to be unpredictable. I wonder if market will get used to this behavior and eventually ignore it or it will move up/down everytime he say's something.

Hopefully lots of volatility for the next 4 years, looking forward to it.

Does any of it matter? I have a signal, I put on/off the trade.

Happy healthy and prosperous New Year all.

Since when was the market stable and predictable ? There is a reason someone came up with the saying "the market will remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent".

Here's two ideas for you to contemplate :
    • Increase your timeframe (and hence avoid all the noise created by all the panicking "dumb money" and flummoxed day-traders).
    • That old word .... DIVERSIFY. Sectors, asset classes, but more importantly, geographically. Donald Trump may think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and he may have the typical American attitude of thinking he can control the world, but the Europeans and Asians will continue to do their own thing independently of what Trump says or does, and hence there will be many opportunities there !

Short on China and related factors

Long on Robotics and Industrial Automation

Long on Interest Rates and Inflation

Trumpets will focus more internally than in foreign matters, no more regime changes overseas

Long on BOLD decisions.......something that only a Billionaire President can take......without caring for next term or even getting impeached

Mr. Trumpets, so far so good, with right balance and advisers you CAN turn around the Inc. named USA.

World economy heats up with rising Oil prices. I think EM are a good place to invest, especially Russia. Going to enter large long position on ruble and short on euro.
