 And you think "fear is what drives people to god"? Perhaps you and the islamofascist's have more in common than you care to admit.
so you think its a conspiricy to exclude believers. you do realize that any scientist who could come up with any evidence pointing toward a god would be world famous?
"Surveys indicate" anything they want. We were, you were, talking about what could be proved and what could not. Not about what a majority of people might think. Certainly some people are anti-theist. It doesn't make other atheists anti-theist who just recognize there to be nothing rational , important or relevant in theism itself. There's nothing hard about that. It's rather obvious really. Well I managed to be brought up in this country in a religious background but never remember being especially influenced by or having to make decisions about it. Again we were talking about proofs not influence. But anyway, whose to say a child brought up in a brothel would not be a better rounded person as an adult, and better informed than someone from a religious background. Of course your existence is shaped by many things but you don't have to believe in those things.
sure it does. fear of hell and damnation is a common christion indoctrination tactic. you cant be that clueless about the christianity you defend. could you?
If having knowledge of cause and effect is blasphemy and sacrilege to your religion then I suppose I'm guilty as charged. Good thing LIEbral atheism is not my religion nor the law of the land.
No there is no conspiracy, faith is not part of science. Science only concerns itself with what can be defined and proven. To believers, everything around them proves that God exists. Science just discovers the "how". Your statement is just patently false. There are many brilliant scientists who believe in God.
no just like 98% of christians i was born into christianity. my parents believed so they had me indoctrinated from the beginning. you dont know much about christianity if you dont think fear is the main driver.
futurecurrents; It used to be so great a hundred years ago when God made everything and man wasn't cousin to the chimps. Poor God, now he has been relegated to being an ancient lab chemist mixing up some lipids and amino-acids for the first bacteria. After that he had nothing else to do but wait for his bacteria to become fish to become rats to become monkeys to become men so they could finally worship him for making them in his image. I'm gonna feel real sorry for him when his bacteria/humans create life in the lab and finally un-mask him as being a do-nothing slacker. He will then have to move to before the big bang and I heard that's a tough neighborhood. Yes, in fact biology was my minor in college. I also assume the biologists in the NAS, only 6% of which believe in God also had biology past the sixth grade. The only place left for "God" is the obscured, dark part when the first Archaebacteria was made. All the rest has been so illuminated by science that there is no place for him to hide there. Thus this part is being desperately held onto by the believers.
