When you're really good, you can just feel the synchronicity and shift without even using the clutch. But lets not confuse Raincap for now. I should start a new thread.... "How does one create an oil painting?"
Years ago, most young drivers had fathers and it was their job to basically humiliate you while you were learning to drive stick-shift and telling you that you were doing it all wrong. It was a rite of passage. If you could both survive that you were bonded for life. I guess that is what we have youtube and chtgpt for now. Sigh.
If driven sympathetically, most modern cars will move from standstill without using any gas, just moderate the clutch. However, most of us learn how to drive the car before we get to a roundabout! Serious suggestion, if you don't know what a clutch does or how it works, google it so you have a better understanding of what is happening at the end of your leg. It will help.
Press clutch pedal to floor, shift into first gear, press gas pedal to floor, release clutch completely, regain your man card.
Graduate level man card: -Depress clutch with left foot -Roll left foot slightly right in order to fully depress brake while still holding clutch down -Juice the accelerator. -Slide left foot off of clutch via a rolling pivot using finesse while continuing to hold brake all the way down. -When you feel you've burnt enough of the tread off your tires and created enough smoke around the wheel wells, release the brakes and go.
