how do I see options volume change over time?

  1. ie: /SI or SLV -
seeing how their jan15 (or whatever expiration date) volume changes over time (for all the strike prices within that expiration)

(I know how to get a graph layout of the current volume per strike price within all expiration dates- but I want to see how it's changed over time)

For silver futures options (SI), you might want to look at the free version of QuikStrike called "Essentials" which is available through the CME site. I wrote up my impressions here http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=266924

I just checked and you can get vol and OI for individual options on 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12-month charts and if you want the precise numbers, you just mouse-over that data point.

    www.quikstrike.net

I don't know where to find similar data for free or at a low cost for the ETF.

Edit: You might ask one of the moderators to move this thread to the options forum.

  4. It would take some time, but you should be able to do it manually in ToS.
