Paper trade 500 shares of a stock and make 20 cents. ($100). Trade long and short, try to decide when to go short. When you think you have the "feel" , trade 500 shares of a $1 stock. If you lose repeat process until get positive. This may take some time.
Well I don't think finding a mentor means find someone to pay to learn. Believe it or not, there are generous people out there, who are experienced and profitable, willing to offer some guidance to those willing to put in the work.
Find a friend with a Bloomberg. Look at the openings in and around where you live and visit some of the firms hiring and inquire about internships. Everyone started somewhere and a ton of folks who are successful today began as interns, clerk/runners when there were lots of trading floors, or just simple gofers. Interns actually get paid today.
Educated yourself as much as possible. Tons of books out there and free information. Trade the markets by John carter is a good start. As others have said books and education will give you the basics but are an education is no sure way to succeed. Open an account and get your feet wet. Lose some money.
Hi I agree with you, books is good learning the basics, it's better to learn in real situation with a demo trading platform. I am a beginner, I have registered on this forum in order to deepen my knowledge and with little change find a mentor.
