Inherited 20k. Invested in a basket of internet stocks back in the day before they rocketed higher. Turned 20k into 100k by dumb luck. That was my bankroll.
Yup, same here.... paychecks. I'm currently busting my a** in order to meet my savings goals of two years living expenses along with the funds so that I too can go full time, and I am within 3 weeks!
borrowed 4k from grandmother in 2006 - Account still going paid above off with 10k I made from craigslist in early/mid 2008
Peeps: how do you handle open trades at last year's end on your tax schedule for the current year. Do you just leave em off your current scdedule D as they will be reported in the coming tax year. This is a bit confusing.
built a little money from my techie job in the mid 90s, traded a little while there and got a little bit, then left in '99. only built my bankroll from a small bit.
I don't reccommend doing this but this is what I did: About few years ago before the credit crunch and financial meltdown I had about 4 credit cards with limits ranging from 5k to 12k. I got a couple more to give me some wiggle room and through a scheme I read about on a personal finance website I took out 30k cash from them through 0% balance transfer offers. With the credit situation today and the way card companies are cracking down I'm not even sure you could do this anymore, or if you could the terms wouldn't be as good and the costs would be higher. I took this original stake and have made enough to pay it all back to the card companies and have about 70k in my trading account right now. It wasn't easy and at times I was a little worried, especially during the time when everyone thought the world was ending and the market was going to zero.
