Here is an example of what I saw today at around 1:30 pm eastern standard time on the charts of the Nasdaq Composite that made me go long the Naz futures near 1350. Daily Chart of NASDAQ COMPOSITE: 60 Minute Chart of NASDAQ COMPOSITE:
What I fly would probably show up in the use ship section. A Grob109 is a two seater glider (no power). 50 foot wing span weighs about 840 pounds unloaded. New a little over 100k. Glider ratio is about 50:1. A just catch a tow to 900 feet and take thermals up to 12,500 max for me. Oxgen over that. We use cell phones nowadays. A metal ring goes to a clip on bow. Ring Has rope tied to it and then to tow plane. You dip foward and to one side accelerating. With slightly slack line you release and rope blows back over to slip stream. With the speed you bank over 45 degrees towards a near by thermal, level off and wait for one wing to hit thermal. It twists upward. You bank into the up rushing air stream and circle into the thermal so you go up continually. Best lifts ar about 2G force concentrically 200 foot or less diameter circle so you a are banked 60 degrees. A max thermal is about one empire state building per minute. Normally it takes 2 to 3 minutes to go up. Five way harness to keep you in place if flipped or something and spoilers in wings to turn off the glider when necessary. I do three hammerheads to give up energy at end of flight. (Pull up into vertical postion and exhaust forward motion, fall vertically down tail first, kick rudder and do a fan of 180 in plane of wings so I turn straight down. Go straight down. Pull out in 5 G leveling and repeat twice. Then I do approach etc. If the runway is clear and free I run it at max speed (the sound is unique to people on ground since you would be silent until just making traverse.) To not hit other planes the canopy gives you a 360 view. If I am taking picutres of others doing acrobatics, I just line up for best shots (think dog fighting with a ship that will do anything on a dime to get a picture with perfect background). You have to do visual bearings all the time since you can fly anyway you want and gravity is not a reference. Instruments on gliders are very important nd you flight check everything. Glider people aren't into any propulsion stuff except thermals and a tow to start the day. Gliders go way up and you may not fly in traffic restricted nor military anything. It is important to not screw up your xcountry. If you do, you land, dismantle and trailer back to sailport. Hope this helps. LOL.
+1205 today I was pleased, and quite shocked to see my long positions acquired at about 2:45 EST pay off only an hour later. Rallies in the Gap Stores and JC Penny were strong. I was afraid I was going to have my first flat day in a week til the shorts started to cover. The guys in my office were split on the long and short side, so you could tell very easily who left for the weekend with a smile on their face, and who wanted to scream out loud. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts on Monday seeing that we closed slightly above 1025 on the S+P. So...I carried home only 1 stock over the weekend. I think its important to watch the gold price as it approaches the $400 level. Gold at that price could dictate a currency crisis and will definitely be on the radar of the major overseas players. Big money will be shifting if we see gold move dramatically to the upside in the coming weeks. Cheers, MP
I predicted a GREEN close (in a public chat room) at approx 12:30 pm EST (we were -10 on or so on the ES at the time). I rarely if ever make such calls. Chart and tone just smelled like that, you watch these bandits long enough and the playbook gets slowly revealed. Whatta game.
