You can't predict the Black Swan event, but you can predict that there will be a Black Swan event. There's a lot of ways to insure yourself against that, some very simple. I don't understand what that has to do with TA.

 

I predict that there will be rain. Somewhere at some point.

 

And if it's rain that can ruin your portfolio, you bring an umbrella. Or, to not exhaust the metaphors, buy options, don't hold overnight, etc. I'm not sure what OP's point is.
