Oh yeah, I forgot, Ken Langone epitomizes that which is wrong with the greatest country on Earth. 1st generation immigrant child born with nothing becomes a multi-billionaire and creates massive wealth for thousands. You really showed me.
I quoted Tupac, you quote Johnathan Rivetts lol. Here, ever heard of this guy? “Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain – and most fools do.” – Benjamin Franklin That's you all over. The entitled generation. Grow up.
We can talk about Tupac, Biggie, Rivetts, Mark Twain, anyone you like. But the simple point you seem to want to avoid is that during our previous exchange, I made it clear exactly who the idiot in the room was.
Sorry I got cut off finishing my thought haha I think it is not solely family structure as a single mom who pushes their child and still has other means of support can still make it. The schools in the poorest parts of the country do lack for funds to have the right resources but it also comes down to judging schools so harshly that the administrators need to move the kids along whether they learn or not. Also public schools have an obligation to be open to all students no matter what so when you spend all your time trying to deal with the normal amount of kids with learning disabilities, home issues and bad behavior you really have no resources to address the students who are actually succeeding and need the attention as well. So you spend more resources on the lower third of kids without enough resources to even address those problems while the top 3rd is completely short changed and the average just get the average and are not challenged. The bottom 3rd are simply shuffled through and out the door. I would rather a failing inner city school stop hiding its problems and make it public and have the city direcct its resources to those schools and not make it about metrics. schools are so afraid to show failure because administrators get fired and teachers get penalized. Lose that mentality. Admit the failures and study why without blame and incentivize teachers for real progress not just fake test scores. etc... No easy answer but it never was a political cause it was always a poverty issue and the fact that the federal and state government wants to treat a public school in inner city Chicago the same as a public school in Oakbrook, ILL just outside of Chicago. Completely different resources, funding and infrastructure but that get graded and rated on the same basis and that makes it unfair.
Nope. We are well past that point. That's decades old thinking just getting recycled endlessly. The truth is, the data and metrics are not hidden and administrators and teachers are not getting penalized and I am not even sure the teachers can read and write themselves or give a shiite. It is not working. It is workng for the teachers and the union but not for students and parents. Remember them? Start looking at alternatives to traditional bullshit schools or help those that are interest in funding or pursuing alternatives or get out of the way. Lots of bright, motivated, inner city kids ready to go right now. Same old bullshit where we cannot carve out environments for them because we just recycle the same old decade after decade talk about the sociological problems and how the goddam teachers and schools need more money. We just threw several billion at Chicago as a ransom payment to the union to upgrade schools building health issues and the fuckers wont even go back to the classroom and we don't even know where half the money. Just stop the madness for crisesake. It has gone on for decades. I need to see massive funding made available for more choices. Now. Musty old 1960's, 70's thinking.
There's heavy pressure to pass them through when a large proportion aren't on track to graduate according to benchmarks. Or to dilute or eliminate the benchmarks.
I get this is off of the agenda but why do we have benchmarks in the first place? We are putting way too many kids in college preparatory classes and not enough in workforce readiness. When my mother was a senior in high school, she spent half of her day at a job she was placed in by her high school. We are testing kids on algebra who should be learning electricity and pipe fitting.
