That point is not without merit. Nevertheless that is not a justification for the schools to abandon them and fail them as well. And it is not just about the underperforming students either. Those students and parents who aspire to achieve excellence are continually being watered down to the lowest common denominator where the current teaching culture believes in "equity" ie, having everyone at the same level of failure or mediocrity so as to not teeter over into achievement, learning, discipline, and excellence which are allegedly the legacy of white colonialism. The Asians don;t know that but nevermind.
Have you ever read the wealth of nations? do you understand economic systems? I’d be interested in your thoughts on Adam Smith’s idea of “the invisible hand.” Can you only appreciate systems in economics but deny them in society? People tend to look at phenomenons that large in society and break them down granularity but ignore the larger forces that create the granular conditions. We know poverty is cyclical and difficult to overcome. You probably don’t know too many people who grew up truly poor and made their way out of it, of any race. Have you ever asked yourself why that is. We know the poorer you are the less likely you are to live a “responsible” lifestyle or have two parents in the house, or have married parents. Why is that? Is it really a race thing? No. It’s not. It’s a poverty thing. We know poverty is more widespread in the black and Hispanic communities but not the Asian communities. Why is that? Well let’s examine that. Where did the Asian communities settle in America? Mostly on the west coast and to some extent the northeast. They were never subjected to southern oppression. And while they had their own oppression and rough go, their people weren’t generally jailed, families broken up and segregated. There wasn’t as much of an invisible hand working against Asians. So they built viable communities and expanded and found larger success. But this is not what happened with black and Hispanic people. It’s something to think about. But it really is t race. It’s about larger systems, systemic poverty and community development.
Here we have Usual Tard channeling Jimmy Carter again. You know, they said that if you asked Carter what time it was, he could not tell you so started launching into a lecture on how to build a watch. The situation in Chicago and the schools is multifactorial. We know that but many of the players have responsibiities that are not being met, but for which they have been paid massive, massive dollars. The public has literally paid the Chicago teachers and their union billions of dollars to meet their constinuous ransome demands, and to maintain school systems that are a total failure. Views should not allow themselves to be diverted by Usual Tards attempt to present a brown bag seminar on the topic. This thread is about Chicago schools. And the behavior of the teachers and the unions and the collapse of that system should be kept solidly in the crosshairs. And the fact that are absentee fathers, and alleged systemic racism, and Thomas Jefferson porked Sally Hemmings two hundred years ago may or may not relevant. But we paid those fuckers bigtime decade after decade and they run a totally corrupt and failed system, and their demands just keep getting steeper and steeper and like idiots we/the government just keep giving them more and more. Then we wait for them to tell us whether this is a week or a month that they even show up. The Mayor has no control over them, the city council does not, and parents do not even exist in their decision making model. They are just a free-floating cash and graft machine and the fact that only a small percentage of chicago students are at grade level is not even a consideration or on their mind. MORE TO COME. Virginia was a warning shot across the bow for those who think that it is schools who decide what is best for students and parents.
How is it systemic racism when black women are choosing to have babies at a young age without being married? How is it systemic racism when there is no structure and discipline in black households that arent making sure their children are DOING THEIR HOMEWORK and not out roaming the streets on school nights? How is it systemic racism when there are no fathers in the household and how is it systemic racism when many blacks think its cool not to speak using proper English? How is it systemic racism when fathers arent around to help their children with their homework or to make sure their children are respecting their teachers and doing as they are told? Is “systemic racism “ just code word for blacks being irresponsible and blaming all of their problems on some made up phrase ? By the way, when liberals let millions of illegals cross our border where do you think they throw all of those children? In mostly school systems that are black low income which takes individual attention away from American children. Yet blacks continue to vote for liberals. Smaller classes create a better learning experience. Blacks should vote for conservatives who believe in personal responsibility and border security. Blacks should embrace that and stop being told they dont have what it takes to succeed on their own by fake compassion liberals.
I actually didn’t say anything about “systemic racism”, although that is an issue, I’m speaking more broadly to cyclical poverty. My point is that your charges of “irresponsibility” are misguided. Classic case of missing the forest for the trees. I assure you young men and women have babies and get pregnant out of wedlock all of the time. It’s not so much a race issue but a poverty issue. Try to understand when you control for poverty, there is very little difference among the races participating in what you call “irresponsible” behavior. Try looking at it from an income based standpoint, you’ll find these behaviors are more evenly distributed and it will bring clarity to your understanding of the problems we face in America. Here is a pretty good look at the state of the American family. Notice the decline of married households and the rise of single mothers across the board. Also, note the state of poverty differences between married and unmarried couples: https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2018/04/25/the-changing-profile-of-unmarried-parents/
Chicago teachers don't even show up for work and when they do it only seems to make things worse so we throw more and more money at their game while they give students, parents, and taxpayers the finger. Marianne Williamson has an essential oil for that. And Usual Tard always has a chart. It's what they do. Fixing the problem and providing alternatives is not what they do.
At the end of the day you need to blame this on the city and their liberal leaders. No child, rich or poor should be deprived of an education just because a bunch of selfish teachers use political excuses not to show up for work. Its outrageous!
Yes, the Chicago teachers deserve all of the shit being thrown at them because they’re asshole for pulling this stunt. I have zero qualms with firing them all.
