how big are your stops for YM and ES?

  1. ??????????? I dont understand you, how is it choppy??? why does it matter if commission/tick ratio is bigger??? ES has a range of 10points a day and YM has over 100points a day. ?????????

  3. 1:1.25 with ~80% winners. Use auto trailing stops. If I manually trail stops I can get more from the market, however I get trigger happy.

On the right days i've had 100% winners. Lots of discipline needed for it though.

BTW: For everyone, most dont need more than a 1.5 point stop (however 1 point is certainly do-able). Especially if you're scalping. If you don't conceive a way to keep each stop as small as possible, you'll be out of the game in no time.

my strategy for low volatility market (ES) uses a 2.5 pt standard stop loss. has worked very well. my strategy for volatile market (also ES) uses 3.0 stop. volatile strategy is new but seems to be working well with 3.0 stop so far.

  7. Dude let me put it into perspective, and note i am not live so i realize i have to discount and take everything with a grain of salt. I have had winners that were 100+ points, and my losers are typically no more than 10 points. a typical trade is risking 10 points to make 40. I am not active, i get setups only 1-3 times a day max. I am not in an out. I ride winners.
