How are we going to take Bagdhad?

  1. All the civilians will be armed. Its a city full of homes and buildings.

The only way I see it, without the US taking any severe casualties, is either there will be a long drawn out standoff or the US will have to go in and bomb the city.

Neither is good, and I would think the US would rather do as little bombing as possible the closer they get to "civilians."

Anybody heard of a reasonable scenario on the news from those military pundits?

  2. What makes you think the civilians are armed? It will be interesting to see if they have a will to fight.

  3. I have a wild hunch that many of the people in Baghdad will be running up and hugging soldiers and asking them what took so long to rid their country of such an oppressive leader.

Sure there will be a few religious extremists up on roofs taking pop shots at our guys, but all in all, most of the people are just everyday people like us who live hand to mouth and are sick of Saddam's bullshit.
