    Hey Chloride,

i did enjoy your views and comments ...
you have a way with words and a seasoned perspective on life, no matter how old you are

You may not have made a consious choice to be the way you are - you might even be one of a very few that hardly had any unconsious choice in becoming who you are - but just for today, and tomorrow if you please, you could choose to think differently

you could think worse, better, crazy, less / shallower, more / deeper or several different kinds of different --- but you could choose to think differently

I'm going to take a risk of getting trampled here by sharing a bit along the lines of choices / intentionality.

You are probably wiser than me in most things and i just might have the edge in a few areas.

    Hope it helps,
    Birdman

    ---------------------------------------
You are free to choose up til the point of choice, but after you choose ... the choice controls the chooser.

    Present choices determine future consequences.

Some folks wonder, and dream about what might be ... what could be and even what should be ... and never think about the idea of intentionality.

Once in a while most people might picture themself in a place or a role ... that was a possibility . . . if the rest worked out a certain way.

It turns out that the world offers so much more. Dreams wait for me to dream them. Ideas await my mind to find them. Literal and figurative mountains stand where I might go to climb them. It depends on me. It depends on me understanding that I am.
    --------------------------------------------

Chloride, I'm an oldguy [50] and i could use a few tips to move into that top 5%. Heck, I'd settle for top 10% - i ain't picky. If you find my insight useful, feel free to private message me your best condensed tips.

  4. birdman good post

I learned since young age that nice words can open even the hardiest of doors

    anyhoo

I don't need to PM you tips, I can give them right away to all

too much time and effort is wasted on when to buy and when to sell. Your time would better be served asking; "should I be long, short, or flat?" for the simple strategies in multiple timeframes and markets.

In this case all you have to
do is determine what large periods occur in a market (large trending periods, large chop periods, large counter-trend periods, etc.) and put in a strategy to exploit the opportunity as it comes around. No need to worry about randomness. Just define the dominant strategies in a market and do the basics like let profits run...cut losses short and let the strategies play out over time.

Lets say a market has two primary characteristics; trend and bounce off support/resistance on a daytrading basis. The market opens and starts to drop. You enter a short following the trend. The market goes down to a support level, stalls and starts to reverse. The support model kicks in a long trade. Meanwhile the trend model is far enough ahead that the stop is moved to breakeven. The market continues up and ends the day near a old high (resistance). In this case you brokeven on the trend trade by using common trade management. The bounce trade made a good profit.

No bias was taken because you would've made money if the market blew through support and the bounce trade was stopped out.

  7. Yes. The post title already identified the problem with the OP: "How a self made top 5% trader views the world (ME)"

If he asked for the thread to be closed, and "came here to ET to make us sheeple listen" (see other thread) because he died and came back to tell us the way and the truth after death, then why is he still babbling?
