If you compound @ > 60% a year, liquidity can become an issue. Sad but true : the funds still availabe to outside investors have performed subpar or only slightly above average. But did they have the staff and the credentials to give themselves the legitimacy that they discovered the secret math formula to trade the markets? I think the real genius behind Renaissance was their marketing. Admittedly though, Jim Simon's story is what inspired me to get into trading in the first place.
There were, and may still be, the envy of other Wall Streets firms ... not for their marketing. For their results.
