Pour concrete over everything, pave it all. What could possibly go wrong? This happens all across the country in nearly every urban area. Flooding where there were no previous problems. Intellectually challenged blame everything on climate change. Sad part is they'll build it all again right in the same damn spot.
What other urban area had 50 inches of rain in 48 hours? I missed that but as this is now called an 800 year event, I wasn't born yet for the last one.
She texted the people that she worked with saying that she was going stir crazy at home so was going to go out- apparently for a drive. She pulled into a parking and lot as she was surrounded by water and then she and her little girl got out and were immediately swept into the ditch by the moving water. The coast guard, military, private rescuers, and others have hundreds/thousands of people on roof tops or surrounded by water waving who want to live and be saved and have positioned themselves to be saved. There are not enough people resources available to watch over everyone who is feeling stir crazy and could do something less-than-smart at any moment. Lots and lots and lots of people are being rescued but you gotta work with the rescuers to make the whole effort work. Heading out for a little drive when you were not in immediate danger at home is not helpful to anyone.
From coming across various articles. I have lost track of which one but the link that I have included below might cover the same info. Not sure, have not read all of it. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/30/us/victims-harvey-death-toll-houston.html
