    Wait Guys...

Before we make too much of this, what's the chance that Ron Paul just pushed the wrong button on this one... He does look like the type of politician who would be prone to this type of mistake, doesn't he?

    :) :) :)

  5. Ron Paul is so desperate for attention, all he can do is vote no on a bill that has everyone else voting for it...

  6. Ah, better, thanks.

Still, I find it a lot of wild accusations. Any substantiation?
And how do you know who this guy is? "Former slave of the DalaiLama"? I know several people who met the DalaiLama but he didn't seem like a guy who keeps slaves from what I heard.
Very weird,. More like a failed PR-shot by the PRC government.

  7. I don't need to argue with you. You believe what you believe.

I have no obligation to educate you.

  8. For starters, here are two articles that hardly anyone would say is from the PRC government.

Chicago Tribune 1997 article "The CIA's secret war in Tibet"
    http://www.timbomb.net/buddha/archive/msg00087.html
This was a very pro-Dalia Lama article and certainly didn't mention him as a slave owner (it wasn't the purpose of the article). But the fact is, anyone who was on the CIA payroll for over 10 years can hardly claim to be the shining model of human dignity. Remember Noriega? Joseph Mobutu? Lon Nol? Osama bin Laden? Among all these great examples, why would His Holiness the Dalai Lama be the exception?

Here is the article that directly go to the heart of the issue:
    http://www.michaelparenti.org/Tibet.html
" Friendly Feudalism: The Tibet Myth"
I know he is sort of a nut but you cannot say that he is a propagandist for the PRC. And he cited many references that you can look up and check for yourself.

My problem with all this material is that, in our country, on any subject, you can find many authors supporting wildly opposing views and producing the most provocative writeups they can, as they desperately look for readers and notoriety. From alternative Bibles to UFOs, to man-frog DNA combinations, to all sorts of idiotic conspiracy theories, to "The Truth About xyz." How can one tell, especially when confronted with a much less known name like Parenti?

I know many of us don't want to believe the Government and commonly established truths blindly, and I sympathize with that, but some of those OTHER folks...OMG! Remember the warning against jumping from the frying-pan into the fire?

  10. I'm not asking you to blindly believe anything. By the same token, you shouldn't just take the Dalai Lama's words at the face value either, should you?

The Chicago Tribune is hardly a peddler of CTs. There are also NYT articles on the Dalai Lama's CIA connection but I guess you would trust the NYT even less.
