Hourglass on curser

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by patefern, Jun 7, 2004.

  1. Every minute or so the cursor on the screen flicks to the hourglass, for just a fraction of a second, and than back to the cursor.

This happens when the cursor is left still.

I don't have a screen saver on, I scan for viruses, run adaware and spybot every other day, so no problems detected.

The os is windows xp pro. Two IBM computers are connected to a linkus router, the main computer has a P4 2.4g processor and it is the one watched most and has this hour glass thingy.

    Any comments, suggestions?

Could be System Restore updating a bit.... try turning if off for a little while and see if it stops.

  3. Thanks gnome, I'll try it.

I had that happen once when my Antivirus was trying to check for updates automatically. Setting it to manual update cured it.

Have you recently installed or reinstalled anything that may be trying to "call home"?

  5. Installed AVG anti virus from Grisoft about 2 weeks ago, but I think I had the problem before that time, however I 'll check the software for updating. I understand the "calling home" part and I'll work on it. Thanx.
