If you have 2, PCIEx16 slots, you can run 2 low-power dualhead cards which together likely draw less than the Visiontek.... like Nvidia Quadro NVS 295 or NVS 300... depending upon which video cables you plan to use. Also, ATI FirePro 2260/2270 or 2460.... others. 300W PSU is low in today's hardware, but your rig likely runs <150W at idle, so 300W likely enough.
Power supplies lose power over time. 300 watts sounds low if you are using an up to date I7 or I5 and a new VC. I would swap that out for 500 watts or higher.
It is an i5 and I agree about the power supply. Will probably swap it out to be on the safe side. Never run 2 video cards on the same computer. Do I use some sort of special software in this case? I will essentially be running one trading application (realtick) spread over the 4 windows for both trading and charts. I was going with the 4 port card simply because it seemed simpler and I am not looking to save a few bucks if there is an advantage to a single card. Sounds like that may not be the case.
As for the PSU... you could get appropriate cards and run them for a bit. If your PSU isn't overtaxed, no need to replace. No need for special software. Running multiple monitors is called "Extended Desktop" and is a Windows function. Works well.
Thanks. So I didn't even realize the computer has on board intel HD graphics as well as a lower end NVidia card capable of running 2 monitors . Went ahead and hooked up all 4 monitors, 2 to the NVidia card and 2 to the intel on board card. Everything worked fine. Seems like as long as the power supply is sufficient everything is good to go. Amazing how easy they have made hooking up multiple monitors on the new operating systems.
That's not a $100 iphone. It's a bundled deal that includes a $.99 come on. I'm not saying it's a good deal or a bad one just pointing out what it really is.
