I could easily set up something like this on my website (http://www.iwinfree.com/screen.htm) also. I already get many hits every month from a link at www.daytradingstocks.com so that could also bring other traders that aren't on ET.

If everyone is interested just start listing nickname, email, and whatever comment you would like with your info (like trading style, experience etc.) I would just cut and paste.

Or you can email me the info at dust247@pacbell.net.

I will create the page if there's enough interest.

Sounds to me that there is a split decision on home Vs the office; it it a matter of preference. I have worked out of the house for 3 years (non-trading business) and have been trading out of the house for 3 months.

My exploration of this issue is purely from the education standpoint. I believe that I could learn how to become a great trader on my own; it would just be a long and painful process.

daytradernyc said he "would never recommend any new trader to start on your own from home because there is just too much to learn from other traders. There is no way you are gonna be a good trader if you start by yourself...or, better put: you will be a BETTER trader if you start at a site where you can learn the craft from other experienced traders."

I, as best as I can tell, am quite a distance from the nearest Prop firm office (Northern AL). Remotely trading with a prop firm may be a possibility, but this would defeat my original intention of the training and mentorship that one would get (?) from "being there in the office".

Interested to hear thoughts on this either way (including from Echo and Bright folks).

Next game on Sun. Not a big fan, but can't help hearing about it!!! That was an exciting series with the big win in at the end, but onto the Maple Leafs.

For a lot of people, this is a career change and not a casual thing. I have a number of remote traders that have started by temporarily reloacting for a period of time (3 months or so) to go trade in an office. Some of these people move across country to be with the best traders they can. They learn everything they can and live and breath trading. Then once they get it, they go back to their permanent home and trade from there.

I know this is not possible for everyone, but if it's possible for you, it's definitely worth checking out.

If I did not have the family obligation, it would be a no brainer. I understand that this is a career change. I am open for options that would not take me from the family (includes young children) for a long time. Unfortunately, 3-months at one given time would be greatly pushing it.

    thoughts?

  7. a web site or a link off a web site devoted to a "trader network" across the country, let me know. I'd be happy to help. I've tried to do it off my web site, but it never took off. Probably because I have no web development skills, and the pop-up ads on my cheesy site annoy people.

N.Shore or anyone else that is motivated to start this, you may want to just start a "Yahoo Group", easy to do, and has all the various posting options that you are looking for, including a seperate chat, and it is free. Go to Yahoo, click on "groups/clubs" "start a new group"

Just one more thought, wouldn't be better just to ask Baron to include such a board or forum here on Elite Trader?
