Cutten, I agree with Ditch. These guys aren't stupid, they're cocky. Criminals are getting arrogant now with the way they flaunt the law. They know the punishment will never fit the crime. If you're buddies with a politician, you'll get a slap on the wrist at worst. If you're a rich Democrat you'll get worse than a rich Republican, IMHO. Bush looks after his own, you gotta give him that. Flamebait Alert: Yeah, our leaders are definitely "tough on crime" -- but only if it's a handicapped black guy on welfare stealing food for his children. If it's a member of the "good old boys network", it's a wink and a nod and a slap on the wrist -- and it's back out into the business world to break the law again as if it had never happened.
Why doesn't the government get honest ? Why don't THEY have someone annouce these figures at 8.30 and l then let news outlets deal with it then. This is complete bullshit/fraud.
Please guys don't even get me started on Bush, as a Canadian we are supposed to be best buddies right ! Well I have never seen any other politician cause so much BS between our two Countries and most of the rest of the free world for that matter but even we can't take his arrogance.
Hmmm, I thought it was Hillary who made a bundle in cattle futures. We know she isn't a brilliant futures trader. Dems flaunt the law the most, IMHO.
Government get honest ? Are you kidding, I bet the reason that we never hear about anyone getting busted on these type of things is that it's Unlce Sam that was selling bonds this morning. Not difficult for them to launder the money, seeing how's it's near impossible to track what they have and where it's really going, AND they're the ones monitoring it. Is it easier for the govt to ask taxpayers for $30 million for a special project, or go thru Solly and launch bonds at 7:28 ? Think about it, a few years ago when Greenspan cut rates at LUNCH TIME on expiration and the S&Ps rallied 70 pts off their lows, think the govt made any dough on that seeing how they had to of known before it happened ? I don't really consider myself into all those conspiracy theories, but it makes a lot of sense that Uncle Sam frequently trades in our markets boys, so we better get used to it. Here's the kicker tho. I've been seeing a lot of people talking about hopping on board the next time there's a move before a big number is "supposed" to be released. I'll be anything that before the next big number, there's gonna be a pump fake -- bonds/S&Ps start to move one way, the little guy hops on board, then the number comes out and WHAMMO -- big time reversal in your face. It would be too easy to hop on board the next pre-number move, so watch out. Vega
Oh grow up. Under Clinton the f**cking employment data was accidently released during the midst of THURSDAY's session. The culprit? The Labor Depts own web site!
Why is it that whenever I think of the people that work at these fine government organizations when one of the snafus occurs I always think of Forrest Gump and his line "I'm not a smart man...............and stupid is as stupid does" or whatever the hell it is. These people are either total idiots, "I didn't know that releasing the number early would really matter" or more crooked than the politicians in my beloved Chi-town. Vega
Now why would the Feds even need to sell bonds 2 minutes BEFORE the unemployment number comes out when they most likely had the number from the Labor Department "days" before the announcement? Your conspiracy theories are killing me!~
\ Waggie, who the hell knows, can't a guy have some fun around this place. Yes, I know if Uncle Sam was going to be short he wouldn't have initiated a position that close to the number, but it's fun thinking that he did. Vega
Check today's Washington Post for a "timely" articleon how the Labor Department secures the Unemployment Data, including no garbage pick-ups 4 days before the Friday that the number is released. Also, the only people that get a "sneak" peak are Greenspan, Treasury Secretary Snow ( hence his upbeat speech yesterday ) and several members of Bush's cabinet.
