Hoadley Trading & Investment Tools... ???

Discussion in 'Options' started by cdcaveman, Jul 18, 2012.

  1. I've had an account with TOS for a while,
partly for the free live squawk box [s&p futures],
but I also can't find anything that gives me a
relatively quick % Return on options, that I can annualize.

    thanks

  3. I get a strong feeling you like Hoadley :p

    I found a Trade & Probability Calculator
over at OptionsXpress, that may do what I was looking for...

  5. Can anyone using the Hoadley kit and trading Futures Options please share info on what data feed you are using?

I am on the Rithmic feed and Hoadley has just confirmed that it cannot hook up.

He suggested either paying separately for data or opening an account with OptionsXpress.

I do not see the value of paying for data when I already have the Rithmic feed, might as well open another broker account and get the Futures Options data that way.

Interactive Brokers comes to mind, especially for the many exchanges I will be able to trade.

    Comments and advice please?

  8. i would love a good data feed.. as far as ib is concerned.. during trading hours they are decent.. but otherwise they must be throttling their data stream .

  9. From what I have read, the IB feed is filtered. Not a big deal unless tick data is significant in your calculations. Also, it does not provide Futures Options Chains.

I will have to look into Hoadley's suggestions in greater detail, and I will probably post what I find here.

Off the bat I can't see myself paying $12.99/contract base rate commissions to OptionsXpress when IB charges $0.85, nor can I see myself paying $250 in monthly fees to Barcharts to get the CME/CBOT/NYMEX feeds.

I'm looking to swing trade options, holding for days - weeks, not doing 20 contracts a day as it were, so I need to find something sensible that meets my needs.

  10. Things make no sense cost wise for us small sized not hugely active options traders.. a lot of things that is
