    surf,

It's very simple, those that are adults here at ET are smart enough to do their own research to find out the good and bad about prop firms.

Everyone is not anti-prop but that's another one of your misinformation that's growing inside your head that you're trying to deliver to sane folks. Once again, its very simple. There's bad and good about prop firms. Some traders need them and some traders do not need them. Traders need to do their own research.

  3. Being taught edges that work at a prop firm makes sense.

Do you folks not believe prop firms teach edge? I don't get the animosity.

Its that you act like its the only edge that exists and treat anything and anyone else as inferior, a dreamer...hey, imagine if a person could consistently trade with charts alone, how much of an edge would that be!

Nothing wrong with them selling courses and I don't care why they do offer education for a fee nor care about the details of their business model. I mention them only because they're listed as a sponsor of ET.

If you have experience with that company or Jea Yu or any other ET sponsor that keeps Baron from turning our membership here at ET into a premium fee-base site to join as Baron has hinted a few times down in the feedback thread...you're welcome to say whatever you want about them via your own personal experience.

There's a few other prop firms here at ET that are sponsors but they're not on the sponsor list that I saw but whenever I see them post messages here at ET...they have the words "ET sponsor" under their user name or they have image ads here (e.g. JC trading group, TopStepTrader). I think Baron needs to update his list.

  7. No man, you have my modus operandi completely wrong. Yeah maybe some savants can eek out a living using TA price charts only. Just because I have never seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Truth is, most can't and most will lose.

The smartest thing to do is go prop and learn real edges from real professionals --- sure, not everyone can do this either but many more will be successful within a prop firm than being a loan ranger. Good prop firms want you to be profitable as this is a revenue stream for them. You will be taught what is working now rather than wasting time and money on trial and error.

Depends on what you mean by "teach". And it depends on what you mean by "prop". The team I was on had a constant flow of ideas, but there was no "teaching", per se. And Echo isn't really a true prop firm, but it works for me.

But the team is gone, and what I'm running now has nothing to do with them. What I am running is a direct result of my correspondence with another guy at Echo. It is incredibly simple, but it also flies in the face of human nature. That's where this so called "edge" is that you guys are so obsessed with.

I haven't read the thread, but I wonder how many are set on looking for chart patterns or some mathematical secret, rather than just delving into their own psychology and finally being ok with taking money from others.

Just a thought. Gotta get back outside.

surf once refer to this as "voodoo" whenever someone talked about their own psychology as a key part of the puzzle to successful trading. That's where I and many others have said the edge is the "trader" and how he/she uses the tools they have.

By the way, you should get a android or iPad. You can be outside and chat at the same time online. :D

Why would a prop firm open all their secrets to an employee who can then leave and share those secrets with a competitor for a huge payday? How do they prevent this?
