Two things Ricter. And please don't take offense to this, but liberals get offended by everything. Any little suggestion that you are attacking their ideals and they wet their panties. For some reason Ricter, I never see center right guys ever go apeshit about little things the way liberals do. I notice this in real life as well.

The other I guess he didn't like my fear of absolutism on the left. What he said was a contradiction in thought was not. I can judge a man by his actions and still "fear" absolutism. If it pleases him, I'll admit to being afraid of politicians who seek to impose religious absolutism in public policy.

There is a distinction in my mind between judging an individual person and fearing a broad policy objective by the powers that be in Washington. One can have a fear that their taxes will go up and at the same time not fear their individual neighbor simply because they are a muslim. Two different ideas.

FWIW Ricter, I don't put you in the same group as those that seem to fly off the handle at the mere mention of something you disagree with.

I question your reasoning, and all of a sudden at that mere mention of something you've disagreed with, fly off the handle, sounding just like the very kind of person you say you fear.

So you just wanted to make a Hitler thread with a bunch of self-contradictory bs statements , throw a few insults then run a mile.
Ok but you're running in a circle.

Nothing I said was contradictory. You are simply trying to pick a fight. You are trying to read between the lines when there is nothing between the lines. You seem to want to have a conversation about religion and I've stated about 10 times now I have no interest in the topic. I'm not joking, I actually have no interest in the topic. But you keep looking for something. My best guess is you have me confused with someone else you sparred with in the past about religion because in 9 years I have never debated it on this forum.

You opened a thread titled 'Hitler and Religion'
Now you have no interest in religion.
You trying to kid or convince yourself ?

It was a bad choice of thread title in hindsight. But the topic of the thread was not about religion. Those photos were released for the first time in 70 years. I found them interesting. It gave us insight into a complicated historical figure that challenges some of the previous ideas about him. Like I said before, many things have been said about Hitler and he himself has plenty of sound bites, but his subtle actions were telling. I wanted this thread to be more about the nuance of his behavior, not about religion good or bad.

Religion is boring. But insights into perhaps the most famous historical figure ever, well that's interesting to me. The thread then took a turn into the discussion of fascism. Then you come along with your atheist rhetoric and quite frankly, I began to get bored. So I admit mea culpa on the thread title, I just didn't know what else to call it in light of the content of the pictures.

But no Stu, this thread was not meant to be a discussion of religion itself. So can you please go find an atheist forum to go hang out on now and leave this thread alone. It has become quite thoroughly off topic now I'm sure.

Indeed, Hitler and religion was a very bad choice of thread title, especially so, considering how tetchy you get as soon as anyone refers to Hitler or religion.

So tell me, how exactly in your OP do a bunch of photos only depicting groups of Nazis sitting around some dining tables, in which the main claims are completely devoid of any confirmation from the pictures , "give us insight" ?

There are no swastikas visible on any baubles and no swastika on top the tree as is ludicrously described in the text.
"Out of sight at the top of the tree behind Hitler was a swastika instead of an angel,"
Yeah there it is, out of sight!

Truth be known, your OP and the comments you've made subsequent to it are nonsense.

There is nothing to show how "Hitler replaced Christian figures with the Norse Gods", or to "celebrate the season as a holiday of the 'winter solstice', rather than Christmas".
Followed of course by the surreptitious addition that you're scared of liberal absolutists, contradictorily not at all by what they say, but what you imagine by what they say, they might do !

But it's too late for trying to disconnect Hitler from Christian religion. The Roman Catholic Church have never done that, you are not going to be able to.

Can’t re-write history either with a few photos that don't do what is claimed on the tin. Attaching at the same time strawmen in the form of disingenuous remarks about economic fascism, and how you are scared of liberal absolutism., simply makes it obvious how you are scared of anything not to the right in politics.

If you want to pull wool over people's eyes, you'll first need at least something resembling wool and even then you'll have a hard job with your line of bad choice topic titles and a very poor version of guilt by false association and some double talk. Methods that "complicated historical figure" Hitler and his Nazi politics would doubtless employ, and look what happened to them.
