  1. Hello

    Hello

Well now that you mention it that way it all makes sense......

Clearly the jews controlled the muslims who drove planes into the WTC towers, i cant believe i never thought of this before......

Plus the jews must have controlled the U.S. government, and
they probably were pulling the strings on osama bin laden.......

Do you realise how crazy you sound?

  5. You would get the same response if you had asked them to read Richard Dawkins's The God Delusion, or if you asked them to watch the Ken Miller lecture on evolution. They would carpet over your request with fringe sources and remark about how you are not thinking for yourself or using common sense or some such. And so it goes. Climate change deniers, birthers, truthers...every one of these crazy groups relies on D-List sources, which they give more weight to than the findings of the recognized experts in their related fields.

The Internet does indeed have a dark side. Although the lunatic fringe has always existed, the Internet has given voice and range to this element such as it has never had before.
That's how I usually feel after any expenditure of effort in such threads.

It pays to keep an open mind. There is a lot of nonsense posted on the web including this subject. One thing I have learned though is to keep a "jaundiced eye" toward anything coming out of DC in the past 10-15 years.

  7. Hello

    Hello

The thing is while i agree with you that argument can become just as irrational, i atleast understand coming in that some people love their religion, and i wont take that away from them, so i kind of have a level of tolerance coming in.

When it comes to these truthers/birthers it has nothing to do with a religion or any preconcieved notion, so it is hard to accept people who can be that damn irrational.... i have seriously been working on not wallowing into these cesspools on ET because there is no point in getting aggravated, but somehow i got tangled up in this today while my intentions were good,it just becomes incredibly aggravating, i can see where you are coming from as an atheist in certain arguments about god, but it is just a different shitteir argument in this case..... I went in to this today thinking i could change someones mind, when if i was to have an argument about religion i would know damn well im not changing anyones mind before the argument took place..... if that makes sense......

  8. People can cling to their religious beliefs all they want. As an atheist, I find it difficult to swallow. Even so, their beliefs are their own. However, I take exception when they try to stuff their religious beliefs with their versions of "science" and when they try to discredit legitimate science with agenda-driven pseudo-science that supports their religious beliefs. That's when we start taking backward steps. And in that way, they are not all that different from the truthers.

This little item is more sad than it is funny:

Sorry for deviating from the specific subject matter your thread. I just wanted to make my point.

  9. The 9/11 conspiracy nuts are a waste of breath. They are so convinced the government engineered the whole thing they won't even listen to reason.

    Sickening really.

    Hello

I can understand where your coming from if you are referring to certain religious people(wont mention names) who think the world is only 5000 years old, and try their damndest to prove a ridiculous theory like that..... I think thats what yer getting at but i may have missed the point. But i also find that frustrating, because no amount of logic can convince someone like that they are wrong.
