Hi i am wondering if interactive brokers (preferably) or any other free resource has the ability to run a historic market data scanner (only EOD data). I currently use finviz at EOD to get top gainers/top losers. Does anyone know if it is possible to select a date over the last 1 day to 6 months and get a list of tickers?
Since it's daily data, the most flexible method will be using a charting software(e.g. Metastock, Amibroker etc) and download free data from Nasdaq or Yahoo Finance etc or paid data like eSignal. For charting software, some scripting knowledge may be required.
Yeh depends how much your time is worth , but unless your real poor trying to do stuff for free is a lot of time and hassle . I used these guys before "http://eoddata.com/ ( they're free ish )
