Hillary Clinton win = what for the economy?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by marcoPolo21, Oct 19, 2016.

  1. Seems like the victory is guaranteed, 3 months before I thought that Trump would smash Hillary, but his campaign was really lame. And now he's saying that he might not agree with the results. Crap.

That's actually a very apt comparison. When you're talking about the biggest economy in the world, painstakingly built over the last 250 years, responsible for the well being of our 325M citizens, hell yeah I want the stability of a bond with steady but small returns rather than the huge downside risk of a risky stock!
You perhaps inadvertently touched on a key difference between the "burn it all down" crowd and the rest of the country. If you've not doing well and have convinced yourself that it's all "the man" keeping you down, then it would make sense to advocate the equivalent of buying OTM options on Twitter using the country's money, just like a hedge fund manager who hasn't hit their hurdle near the end the of year is incentivized to make increasingly risky bets because they don't have anything to lose on the downside and gain on the upside. On the other hand, if you're a functioning part of the economy and realize you're better off here than almost anywhere else you could be, you're aghast at the idea that you'd want to potentially throw it all away betting on red just because you may be able to double your money.
Fortunately it looks like the "burn it down" crowd is outnumbered pretty significantly, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't take a look at the legitimate (non-racist/sexist/bigoted) reasons they have for taking such a stance and try to address them.

  5. according to New York Times, clinton has a 93% chance to win, the bias by the liberal media is so hilariously despicable it's entertaining to see

  6. I think it is a lot closer than the Press wants to admit. The same way the Press was making fun of Brexers and then the BREXIT vote was held and they voted to leave. And it appears to be a good idea.

This guy says Trump has a 87 percent chance of winning...

The latest poll says Ohio is going to Trump and for the last 75 years +/- no one has won the election without winning Ohio.

If Hillary is so confident she is going to win then why does ABC have to photoshop her rallies and why are they even doing it ?.......3rd video

And why did her staff give Andrea Mitchell questions to ask Hillary? And why didn't Andrea object to them?

And why hasn't the Press spent more time on the thugs hired by the Democrats to discredit Trump? At least Hitler's Brownshirts had enough guts to wear a uniform and do it in public.

I am not in love with Trump but I really, really hate the compulsive lying, criminal, wench from Arkansas. And her husband and daughter too. And Huma.
    That's all.

  8. "Armstrong Economics?" Really? Martin Armstrong is a loon and an ex-con who defrauded investors because he doesn't know shit, aside from how to con people.

    It's all a conspiwacy.

Paranoid schizophrenia comes to mind. Maybe someone should tell him that there's medication for that.

I presume you've maxed out all the possible votes on Predictit for Trump and various Trump winning options then? That's just free money you're giving away if you aren't putting your money where your mouth is in this case. And as I mentioned, you have invested the rest of your "wealth" in VIX futures, right? Because they're almost flatlining through the election and you're certain that it's going to turn out the opposite of the consensus which is sure to drive up volatility the day after the election. I've maxed out my Predictit bets, but sadly I won't make nearly as much as you stand to make because the odds, based on people who do put their money where their mouth is, closely mirror my view of reality.

I actually wish I shared your strong certainty of your opinion because if I did I'd be sure that I was going to significantly increase my wealth in just two weeks time, and at least for the time being I'd be in a very happy place! I also wish you actually had the certainty that you claim to, because then I could take the opposite side of your bets and investments!
