http://www.thedaily.com/page/2011/03/17/031711-news-hillary-2-2/ OH, HILL NO Obama's indecision on Libya has pushed Clinton over the edge By Joshua Hersh Thursday, March 17, 2011 Fed up with a president âwho canât make his mind upâ as Libyan rebels are on the brink of defeat, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is looking to the exits. At the tail end of her mission to bolster the Libyan opposition, which has suffered days of losses to Col. Moammar Gadhafiâs forces, Clinton announced that sheâs done with Obama after 2012 â even if he wins again. âObviously, sheâs not happy with dealing with a president who canât decide if today is Tuesday or Wednesday, who canât make his mind up,â a Clinton insider told The Daily. âSheâs exhausted, tired.â He went on, âIf you take a look at whatâs on her plate as compared with whatâs on the plates of previous Secretary of States â thereâs more going on now at this particular moment, and itâs like playing sports with a bunch of amateurs. And she doesnât have any power. Sheâs trying to do what she can to keep things from imploding.â Clinton is said to be especially peeved with the presidentâs waffling over how to encourage the kinds of Arab uprisings that have recently toppled regimes in Egypt and Tunisia, and in particular his refusal to back a no-fly zone over Libya. In the past week, former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clintonâs former top adviser Anne- Marie Slaughter lashed out at Obama for the same reason. The tension has even spilled over into her dealings with European diplomats, with whom she met early this week. When French president Nicolas Sarkozy urged her to press the White House to take more aggressive action in Libya, Clinton repeatedly replied only, âThere are difficulties,â according to Foreign Policy magazine. âFrankly we are just completely puzzled,â one of the diplomats told Foreign Policy magazine. âWe are wondering if this is a priority for the United States.â Or as the insider described Obamaâs foreign policy shop: âItâs amateur night.â Clinton revealed her desire to leave yesterday in an interview with CNNâs Wolf Blitzer, responding four times to his questions about whether she would accept a post during a potential second Obama administration with a single word: âNo.â Philippe Reines, an adviser and spokesman for Clinton, downplayed thesignificance of the interview, saying, âHe asked, she answered. Really that simple. [It] wasnât a declaration.â But her blunt string of four ânoâsâ followed a period of intense frustration for the secretary, according to the insider, who told The Daily that Clinton has grown weary of fighting an uphill battle in the administration. Defense Secretary Robert Gates came out against a no-fly zone almost two weeks ago, while Clinton grew closer to the Libyan opposition. Last week, excommunicated members of Libyaâs embassy to the United States set up shop in an office inside the State Department. Obama himself made light of her strong feelings for supporting the opposition in a speech last week at the Gridiron Club Dinner, an annual gathering that traditionally features a stand-up comedy act by the president. "Iâve dispatched Hillary to the Middle East to talk about how these countries can transition to new leaders â though, Iâve got to be honest, sheâs gotten a little passionate about the subject,â Obama said to laughter from the audience. âThese past few weeks itâs been tough falling asleep with Hillary out there on Pennsylvania Avenue shouting, throwing rocks at the window.â And to some, the firing last week of State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley over disparaging remarks he made about the Pentagon detention policies had the appearance of a power move by the Defense Department more than anything else. While the stakes in Libya could not be higher, the insider said that something far more domestic was on Clintonâs mind after she leaves the State Department: âShe wants to be a grandmother more than anything." â With Anthony DeCeglie
What took this stupid ass to finally wake up and come to her senses? Even she realizes Oduma is a one term president.
Obama is now asking the UN to approve a resolution that would allow for air strikes against Gaddafi forces. Why the wait until they are almost defeated before deciding to do something. I don't support America becoming involved but if he was going to do this why wait until the 11th hour? The odds of success are greatly diminished now. I don't think Obama and his advisers are rational.
âFrankly we are just completely puzzled,â one of the diplomats told Foreign Policy magazine. âWe are wondering if this is a priority for the United States.â Don't be puzzled, Pierre, go in and do it yourself.
This was my favorite quote. âObviously, sheâs not happy with dealing with a president who canât decide if today is Tuesday or Wednesday, who canât make his mind up,â a Clinton insider told The Daily. âSheâs exhausted, tired.â I think that pretty much sums up Obama.
If she wanted us to stay out of Libya, then either indecision, or the decision to stay out would be satisfactory with her, wouldn't it? No, what she wants is intervention, and she's not getting it.
Classic Clinton. Send a lackey out to bemoan the utter unfairness of it all. "if only they had listened to me." Normally seen only in memoirs. She may not have totally written off the 2012 election. Clinton/Pelosi v. Palin/Bachmann. Steel cage rules.
