Highest level of education?

  1. I didn't copy the whole post, but I agree with you 100%. I would
never tell my kids they don't need an education. My kids will
get a college education. Aound this house, it's family, education and then career in that order.

I guess my original premise concerning this thread was just that
education has little to do with your chances of making it as a trader and that there are a lot of very successful people in the
world who don't possess a formal education.

And that we shouldn't write people off as enevitable losers just
because they didn't go to college or even finish high school.

    Scientist made some interesting observations:

"Just look at highschool/college dropouts like Larry Elisson (ORCL), Robson Walton (Wal-Mart), Bill Gates (MSFT) - They used to be the three richest men in the world!

In fact, today, 8 of the top 10 richest ppl in the world are drop-outs! Let that sink in a bit. That's 80% of the absolute top.

Bill Gates slept through lectures because he had been playing poker one night after the other. He kept gambling and getting better, stacking his cash and eventually used it to start-up MSFT!
    Sounds like trading."

I didn't even know Bill Gates was a college drop-out. But, I sure
don't have any less respect for him, now. And even if his ideas
hadn't changed the world, I wouldn't look at him as inferior
to a college grad, which I'm afraid is the view many people take.

Unfortunately, our society seems to look down on the uneducated
as some kind of a 2nd or 3rd class citizen, in my opinion.

  2. Nope, the difference between me and the casino is very simple, one makes money because the rules are SET statistically, while the other one EXPLOITS the rules statistically. One can make money either way.
Your Z test doesn't sit pretty on a gaussian distribution (while you may be fooled it does) when applied to a fat tail distrib (Kurtosis), hence the black swan. Got it now?

  3. "Credentialism" is a real problem. It is all part and parcel of an overegulated society.

when you combine credentialism ( without the experience to back it up ) , cronyism ( hiring of friends ), nepotism ( hiring of relatives ), affirmative action ( not being allowed to hire white males ), plus laws governing immigration, the freaking labor market is a cesspool of inefficiency.

  4. I do like to play the table games but never gamble online. Just dont trust those websites.

Although my trading criteria is mechanical the executions are discetionary. I prefer to "eyeball" the alerts for the better looking setups, if you know what I mean?

  5. by the way I do have a degree and some technical certificates and certifications, and for the most part they had nothing to do with my ability to perform a job, which is something I have always gained through experience and self study.

  6. When you look at it from a financial and business success point of view, there are certainly a few hundred million college graduates that are inferior to HIM - A drop-out!

He was supposed to be studying law because his parents wanted him to (daddy lawyer). Funnily enough they dismissed his computer-ambitions as "an adolescent phase" (starting at age 13). LOL
Well, he didn't have a choice but drop out then, did he?

Find enclosed an image of the fresh startup-company in '78 - The kid is Bill, the guy on the right is Paul Allen :p
    Would you have bought?

  10. -I'm literally scared of paradigms and limiting beliefs. Thus "Scientist". That's why I frown at ppl making ANY kind of limiting belief claims - Be it "you can't make money trading", "jews are better with money", "muslims are terrorists", "you cannot make money gambling professionally (Isn't it 100X easier than daytrading?)", "you have to study, graduate and get a safe, secure job" etc etc

Saying that online casinos are not safe is one of those preoccupations. There are thousands of crooked sites - But some aren't. They could never afford to!

check out the interactive gaming commission: www.internetcommission.com
    they license and accredit casinos.
you only look for the "licensed & accredited" ones ...
They do full interviews with those casinos - What they do, whether their gaming servers are monitored by one of the 'big 3' accounting firms etc etc.
They can't afford to 'tweak' their servers to cheat - Besides, they don't need to anyway...

But when you go there: Never forget : Pro gambling is not about predicting (since you can't) - It's 100% about money management! Sounds familiar?

    Good Luck,
