So that means I can't trade remotely from Europe or Asia for a US based firm?--I don't know

About the 365 day capital lock up, Is there a way i can withdraw money or get some
kind of a pay check from the firm during that 365 day period? You can withdraw profits only.

    Ok sounds fair...
About the leverage, do you think 1:20 leverage is a rare thing to get in firms?
and what exactly is that institutional account you were talking about in your PDF?
How do you open one? who provides one? can i open this type of account?

We offer portfolio margin which offers up to 6.6X but in practice that level is hard to get. Except at IB we can't offer PM accounts to foreigners right now. Our relationships make anything but Reg-T difficult. We call them institutional accounts but to you they would be considered customer or retail accounts.

You might find a prop firm to give you 20X during the day after sometime trading with them but not over-night. Over night they might allow no leverage.

If you only day-trade and have limited capital, I would consider learning to trade futures. Better leverage.

    Good luck

Yeah i know that, but i got my strategies working for me in equities, it's not
even close to the trading style of futures.

I've been the reading the thread and rg12 has given a lot of good info. Not sure if this question should be posted in another thread, but here gos...so what's the difference between the prop firms mentioned here and the ones like 3T trading, Maverick, and the more well known firms like Avatar Securities & Belvedere Trading? I thought it would be difficult to work for a prop firm and not just simply depositing $ into an account.
