    finally great advice, thank you.
the climate is not that important, you can get most of the things anywhere...and there's no excuse for not exercising :)

  2. The high fat Mediterranean diet is better than the typical American/Western diet but that isn't saying too much. Not hard to beat the bar set that low :)

But there is NO evidence the Mediterranean diet is better than the low fat, low sat fat, high fiber diet based on fruit, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and very limited amounts of animal protein.

    Proc Nutr Soc. 2005 Nov;64(4):543-53.

Micronutrients: dietary intake v. supplement use.
Woodside JV, McCall D, McGartland C, Young IS.

"A number of studies have combined a low-fat diet with increased fruit,
vegetable and whole-grain consumption. Recent observational evidence from the
Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Ageing (Tucker et al. 2005) indicates that, over
an average 18 years follow-up, the men who consumed the combination of five or
more servings of fruit and vegetables per d and £12% energy from saturated fat
are 31% less likely to die from any cause (P<0.05) and 76% less likely to die
from CHD (P<0.001). This combination of high fruit and vegetable and low
saturated fat intakes was found to be more protective than either of the
interventions alone. This work is backed up by a controlled feeding study in healthy volunteers (Gardner et al. 2005) that has shown that a 4-week low-fat diet intervention that
also incorporates markedly more vegetables, legumes and whole grains (therefore likely to increase icronutrient status), enhances the lipid-lowering effect of a typical low-fat diet."

Isn't anyone going to point out to Sunshine that HAM is PORK?

Seriously if you didn't know that how am I supposed to believe anything you copy/paste to support your other ideas?

Just as a side note my great grandfather lived well into his 90's. He ate homemade biscuits every single morning for breakfast.

they were made with lard do you know what lard is?

Also I would love to see a good conversation about evolution in relation to a vegan diet.

Would we as a species be living forever by now if we had all been vegans for the past three forevers?

living till 90 without diseases proves a lot! what other proof do you need? having energy, sharp mind, no health issues, being thin and look good proves even more....and there are many people who are like that and eat meat and dairy on a daily basis...
compare the french obesity rate with the US...the french are all about the mediterranean diet :)
