I did not say not eating will make you fat. I said if you not eat when you are hungry, your body will slow the metabolism to survive. Your body metabolism gets slower and store fat to use because it knows it is not getting enough fuel. You burn less calories with a slow metabolism. You become tired and weak with less food and slow metabolism. I am not saying to skip a meal sometimes is bad. But if you always do this, deprive your body, you slow the metabolism to survive. Then you are tired because your body makes you slow down so you do not burn too many calories.
Well, I disagree, here's why.. Too much emphasis is placed on the "slowed metabolism". First of all animal studies show that slower metabolism from caloric restriction EXTENDS lifespan and reduces chronic disease. Whether this is a factor in longevity or a consequence of caloric restriction who cares? So why is a slower metabolism smthg to avoid?? Slower metabolism means you need less food to sustain your health, why is this bad? Unless you are a chronic overeater Also, how much is it slowed (if at all) from skipping meals?? 1%? 2%? what does this amount to in calories? Nutrient rich food, caloric restriction and a slower metabolism is good thing, not a bad thing
If you are active and have to work every day, and you not have enough food, you will become very tired, lose muscle, and weak. If you always working and burning calories, but do not get enough calories, you lose weight, lose muscle, become tired and weak, and have to slow down. You try to walk every day for 3/4 a mile to work, then work a physical job, then walk home and not eat enough (fuel) to the fuel you burn, and you will see you will feel weak and be skinny.

19.8 is mine and I eat if I am hungry, and eat some meat too. What is wrong with eating if you are hungry, and enjoying that? Just eat healthy food.
Trendlover, that's right...when your metabolism slows down due starving/skipping meals, even 5 apples a day could make you put on weight
19.8 is great! mine is 20.5...eating meat and not skipping meals (as long as they are healthy) surely won't make you put on weight! the two vegans I know are fat... why don't you share your bmi killthesunshine?
