High LDL Cholesterol Is Not A Health 'Problem' & Other Facts

  1. After making my post about Gorilla's, I went and read the wikipedia page on them. I guess they eat insects. Yuk. And from the article trendlover posted, it looks like they eat bamboo and all kinds of stuff we humans can not digest. Well, so much for being as strong as a Gorilla while not eating meat. Time to go eat a big steak for dinner. I might even eat the dang thing raw. :p

  2. This is poor advice.

Beef and fat also raise insulin. Often more than some carbs. Futhermore, "GI" index is based on effect of SINGLE foods eaten alone, mixed meals have a very different affect on insulin and blood sugar. The "GI" index is flawed for this reason., and not a good way to eat.

Besides, who eats a SINGLE food as a meal? Our meals are mixed meals made up of a variety of foods.

Some high GI foods raise insulin LESS than some low GI food further confounding the "GI index" issue.

Always eat carbs with fat and protein? The FAT with the protein in animal source is a big problem for the arteries not a carrot or that leaf of lettuce.

Eating excess fat with carbs to blunt some flawed "GI index/ insulin theory" based on bad science is not sound advice.

"Dont skip meals" why not?? A skipped meal is just one more meal you're not eating fat and results in LESS overall fat consumption for the day, week, month and lifetime. Also the 'skipped meal" is a lot less calories ;) How is that bad?

Insulin secretion is a natural consequence of eating. Eat 'right", high fiber nutrient-dense plants in their natural 'package', little or no animal protein, no refined carbs, don't have to worry about insulin (unless you are diabetic)

  3. Gorilla manufactures essential amino acids in their body, humans do not. That is why we need some animal products. But animal products have saturated fats too, and we need some of that fat, but not too much to be overweight. So meat is good, but western countrys and developed countys are not active like people of other countries or meat eating people of the past, so to eat too much meat might make you overweight. But some is good!
I rather have some chicken then eat a beetle.:D

  4. the problem with this is plants contain the FULL essential amino acid complement, so you don't need an animal source at all. I defy you to prove otherwise.

Plants are a better source of amino acids because they are virtually sat fat and cholesterol free.

You might BELIVE that doesn't matter but you are at odds with decades of good science to the contrary.

    Good luck with that :D

  5. KSS - You can go and graze on grass, but it will just make you sick.

Cattle can eat grass and efficiently convert that matter to energy and nutrition, as they have bacteria in their gut that humans completely lack, and that allow them to.

You should take note of the importance of the design and function of the human GI tract, and everything it contains and doesn't. Your radical vegan philosophy trips and falls on its face badly, partly because of your apparent absence of knowledge in this domain.

  9. Ignorance of this poster should be noted and following his advice is not a good idea.

  10. Yes, Karol88 gave good advice to not skip meals. When a person is hungry and does not eat, their metabolism goes slower so they store fat to survive.
