  1. You gotta bring race into this bro? What does it matter if the military is black?

In addition, thousands of people with suspicious-to-ridiculous "disabilities" get on the SS dole and are eligible for Medicare within 2 years. The number of them has grown exponentially the last few years...maybe it's because of judges like this:

No reason for traders or anyone else to contribute a dime more for that.

Pentagon/military waste is a different issue. The whole "Issue X doesn't matter because I think we spend more on Issue Y" is an example of uncritical thinking at its worst.

  4. I've witnessed older-generation family members on Medicare enjoy carte-blanche health care spending - sometimes augmented by supplemental care - for their extended lives.

Medicare probably spent over $100,00 per year on a few of them, while they lived those last few years with illness. Is that feasible in the future for close to 50 million Americans over age 65? Can Medicare afford to pay out half a trillion a year?

Will there be government health care rationing, formally or informally? In my wife's home country of Finland, there is free health care, but you have to wait a long time for it at times, and they can be very stingy.

Will government health care be like public schools? In some big cities, those who can afford to, send their children to private schools. Will we have health care coverage for the masses and private health care coverage for those who can afford it?

Medicare is currently a good deal for many, who pay in far less then gets paid out on their account. But, for the upper income, Medicare is now an expensive and risky deal in my view.

  5. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

    -- Winston Churchill

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

    1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

    2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

    3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

    4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

    5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Unfortunately, most voters don't know this.

Subject was SS and Medicare. You brought up the red herring of defense. Reading comp (as well as projection) issues are yours.

Typical very selfish liberal thinking. I get a lot so it is great...

Medicare/endless welfare in general is absolutely destroying America due to the endless greed and selfishness of liberals.

Not likely to happen as there is a reason for pain and suffering. Best to pray for the will to live a healthy lifestyle.

Nice post. I agree with everything except the last sentence. Unfortunately, most voters DO know this and this is the reason Obama will be re-elected.
