Hidden Island Orders

When using an iceberg order, is the true size of your order hidden from only from the market place? That is, the specialist knows the true size. Or is the order maintained in IB's system and only fed as necessary?

 

I believe iceberg orders are only routed to ECNs so no one will know your true size.

i find them very helpful. nothing annoys me more about OTC stocks than getting pennied all friggin day long and the whole lack of size shown. no idea where they get the argument that they're market is more transparent. anyway, to ease the annoyance of the pennying, i frequently use hidden isld orders when trading after hours.
