Herschel Walker is too stupid to be a U.S. Senator

    By the law you must have an official residence in an election district (or state) for a certain number of months prior the election to be eligible as a candidate. This is a legal problem — not merely a political one.

    Can Herschel Walker run for Georgia office while living in Texas?
    The short answer: yes. What matters is where he lives if he is eventually elected.
    The Constitution sets three qualifications for service in the U.S. Senate: a candidate must:
    • Be at least 30 years old;
    • be a U.S. citizen for at least nine years;
    • and live in the state they represent at the time of election.
    On Aug. 17, Walker used an Atlanta address to register to vote in Georgia. It's the same address he used to file campaign papers with the Federal Election Commission.

    According to the Fulton County Board of Assessors website, the home address he used is 999 Mount Paran Road NW, which is owned by his wife, Julie M. Blanchard.

    Blanchard and Walker were married in Texas in May, according to public records.

    How is Herschel Walker living in the house in Georgia if it has been rented out for quite a long time?

    I don't know the nuance of Georgia law, but if the Georgia election commission had an issue it would be public, the Democrats would make sure of that
    People like you only keep repeating the illegality of this in order to keep it in the headlines....when the facts are that it is being allowed...

    If twitter was not about free speech...this information about Walker being ineligible should be considered misinformation

    Yes.. . I don't know the Georgia law either. But the definitive proof that the house Walker claims to live in is rented out to others only came out in the past couple days. Until recently he got away with claiming this home owned by his wife was his primary residence.

    Not to mention Walker is still taking a take deduction on his Texas home claiming it is his primary residence.

    Herschel Walker says ‘I live in Texas’ in recording as Georgia Senate candidate’s residency status scrutinised

    Herschel Walker, the scandal-plagued Republican candidate in a closely watched Senate runoff election in Georgia, said he lives in Texas in a newly unearthed recording.

    In a January speech to the University of Georgia’s College Republicans, the former football star stated plainly, “I live in Texas.”

    “Everyone asks me, why did I decide to run for a Senate seat? Because to be honest with you, this is never something I ever, ever, ever thought in my life I’d ever do,” Mr Walker told the club, according to a report from CNN’s KFILE.

    “And that’s the honest truth. As I was sitting in my home in Texas, I was sitting in my home in Texas, and I was seeing what was going on in this country,” he continued. “I was seeing what was going on in this country with how they were trying to divide people.”

    The investigation further found that during media appearance and campaign events, Mr Walker appeared from his Texas home at least four times. Prior to announcing his campaign, the former Dallas Cowboys running back made 20 such appearances from the Lone Star state.

    The revelation follows a previous CNN report that Mr Walker claimed a tax break on his multi-million dollar Texas home in 2021 and 2022 intended for primary residents of the state, saving himself an estimated $1,500 and potentially running afoul of both Texas tax law and Georgia election procedures.

    The Independent has contacted the Walker campaign for comment.

    The Republican primary in Georgia was held on May 24th. As outlined in the articles, Walker was required by regulations to live in the state in order to participate in the GOP primary. Walker registered prior the primary with the address of a house owned by his wife but this week proven via documentation to be rented to someone else. At this point Walker has legal troubles on top of all of his mental issues.

    Just a reminder -- if you register to vote in a state and you put down an address you don't live at while actually living in another state then you have committed a crime. The same applies to putting down an address on a form when you register as a candidate.
