One site I visit has the ignore/unignore button right next to the poster's name in the thread. It's very easy to unignore to see if maybe, just this one time, they might actually be 1)on topic 2)knowledgeable/entertaining... then when they aren't [once again] worth the problems it's easy to put them back on ignore...

This feature is functioning as designed. If you put a user on ignore, the last thing you want to see is a thread started by that user, regardless of who posts replies to it. It would make no sense to allow a thread started by an ignored user to also be visible, because that would require that the first post of the thread be hidden, so you would have no basis whatsoever to understand the context of any replies that were posted after that.

Saw a post here on ET that the US government is cracking down on Bitcoin because it's helping the criminal organizations. Do we trust @Pekelo ? :sneaky:

The government in the U.S. is probably secretly involved in the bitcoin business for the sole purpose of identifying criminal organizations.

I wouldn't be surprise to hear 10 years from now about how the FBI, DEA or whatever actually operated one of the Bitcoin exchanges.

I want to see every thread, including threads started by members on my ignore list. I don't feel emotion or ill will toward those I ignore. I ignore members simply to filter out their noise after determining they will likely never say anything interesting about things which interest me.

Truth stands on it's own ... within the contextual realm we call reality. The finite limits of that framework, along with the title of the thread and the posts by members which aren't on my ignore list is more than enough to understand the nature of the conversation, and it's bliss because it facilitates locating the worthwhile "trading related" content that interests me.

I understand the hardened form of ignore as it currently exists is necessary but what I believe is needed is a less severe form of ignore for members who are serious about discussing trading, even on threads where they are ignoring the thread starter.

Please add a checkbox to allow members to choose between using the current hardened ignore ....or a new milder ignore, that doesn't discard the good info (ie the signal) just because it contains some noise. There's a lot of good content on ET but it's often located where least expected. For members looking for high quality trading related discussions, this noise filter will make it easier to locate and contribute to those (trading related) discussions.
