I disagree with gwb on almost all things political but he is almost right. Running Hillary again would be a mistake, one the DNC failed to recognize in 2016 and one Bernie's campaign did not bring home. It was promised to her that it would be her turn and Biden was told to step aside. HRC causes a rift in the party and many Dems do not like her nor do they want to support her. Biden would have won but HRC was toxic which is why Bernie survived so long in the primaries while Trump was taking down victims left and right out of a huge pool of candidates. Hillary would only win the votes of people who are already solid Democrats. She would continue to alientate Bernie Dems, more moderate Dems, independants and GOPers who no longer support Trump. All of those groups will turn back to Trump as long as Congress stays in the hands of the Dems and wait it out until 2024 when they can come in with a new candidate. -Many Dems though HRC was forced upon them and Biden was pushed aside. -Many Dems could not stand her from her Senator days and that is why she lost to Obama in 2008. -She did not come across well after Benghazi because she still has not learned to be humble -During the election she spent all her time speaking about Trump being bad and this and that while Bernie and Trump focused on the issues their base was interested. SHe ignored the whole middle of the country. -After Access Hollywood tape I think she felt she would walk into the White House as Trump would be destroyed in the public arena....huge underestimation of the outrage and political revolt underlying his popularity. The Dems screwed the pooch in 2016, I would have voted for Biden. But the whole DNC was a cluster fuck from Wassermna Schultz (sp?) to how the DNC was reported to favor HRC over Bernie. Sometimes when you get real arrogant and just expect to win and underestimate your opponent you lose badly. I hope they learn from this in 2020 and come up with something better than simply throwing Pelosi and HRC as the Dem leadership. Just an honest take without a bias really.
She got 3 million more votes than Trump and lost The EC by 80000 votes. With all the support Trump has lost and Dems enthusiasm to get rid of Trump she would easily do better next time.Bernie bros are no longer a problem.Moderate Dems like Ralph Northem,Doug Jones,Conner lamb etc are getting the the same support and turn out as more progressive Dems.
I think putting HRC will be a big mistake, there is a chance to bring back all those disappointed voters who voted for Trump with more moderate candidate. HRC got closer because Trump really mobilized the coasts against him but she could do worse this time unless she changes her strategy. HRC lost twice, she had her chance and lost to a better candidate (Obama) and a worse candidate (Trump haha). Now she would really hurt Dem chances. Dems need to focus on jobs, healthcare, trade and not just say GOP is racist and mysoginist. That does not put food on the table or money in the pocket of middle america. Dems need to stop focusing on immigration and that Trump abuses women. People don't care about non citizens getting support and health care when they are not getting it themselves (that is why large amounts of Hispanic voters and women voted Trump when Dems thought Trump's comments would alientate them en masse - another stupid strategy underestimation. HRC also looks like a hypocrite due to her husband. Biden in 2016 and he would have been President. Biden would have closed that EC gap no problem and Jill Stein and Bernie would have been relegated to the fringe.
HRC would be a great POTUS and is pretty much in the center, but we tried that, and it didn't work, so don't be the definition of insanity. Doesn't matter why, it's unfortunate but true.
