here you go, meat eaters...

  1. Not scared.. a better word would be lazy. It's so damn easy to hit the drive-thru or take-out and grab a bite to eat. I often get a salad or something, but it's not real filling. Society just isn't set up for vegetarians.

I think eventually the whole world will be vegetarian because of

    - diseases animals get. something like 1/3 or more chickens have salmonella, which is why you have to cook it so well. beef scares seem to be getting more and more frequent. hoof and mouth disease? who wants to deal with that???

    - economics. meat is expensive and doesn't keep well. grains and fruits and vegetables keep much better, and in most cases have their own protective skin.

    - cruelty to animals. if everyone had to watch a video or make a personal visit to a slaughterhouse, i bet 50%+ would no longer eat meat.

slightly off-topic, but most kids who torture/torment animals will grow up to be abusers. that means some form of domestic violence, beating their kids, violence toward others, etc. it seems people either respect *ALL* living things, or they don't respect *ANY*.

  2. I do enjoy meat, cigarrettes, sex with sluts, booze & drugs, and I'm not willing to give up any of these things.

...and if my habits shorten my life by 5 to 10 years.....big fucking deal. The last 5-10 years of the elderly are their worst years anyways. So maybe I'll be spared the pleasure of living to age 90 in a urine smelling nursing home, unable to wipe my own ass, or recognize my own friends. I can deal with that.

That said, I would like to see more humane slaughtering practices of livestock. Animal suffering should be avoided, even if this will cost us a few more cents per pound of meat.

  4. Why so much hostility? You realize that you're the sucker for depriving these pleasures from your own life?

Besides, after I agreed with you on the religion threads, I'd expect a more courteous response.

RESURRECTION? Maybe you're confusing me with someone else?

Incidently, I should have pointed out that meat, smokes, sluts etc. are all great in </b>moderation</b>. I'm not advocating living like Ozzie Ozbourne or Kurt Cobain....

  5. i am depriving myself of nothing except an early transition into eternity. you on the other hand are cutting your life short by many many years. who's the sucker here??

oh so you think the "middle of the raod" is a viable and EASY solution? IT IS NOT! you know what happens in the middle of the raod .. You get hit from both sides!

anxious for all to turn BLACK are you?

    need help?

heres a tip .. double up on your burgers & smokes. lets not prolong this sentient existence any longer than we have to ..agreed?

have a nice trip. say hello to HELL for me will ya? i'll be a little "late" in showing up if you get my drift. :-/

  6. Check out, homocysteine, the real cause for artery clogging. Guess what helps keep down homocysteine, red meat. The British Medical Jourmal recently said "chlolesterol screening is not worthwhile". The AHA is now admitting low cholesterol can trigger the deadliest kind of strokes. A friend who needs a stent or angioplasty about every 6 mos. and who has wonderfully low chlolesterol asked his heart doctor why and the answer was "cholesterol probably doesn't make any difference. Census figures show vegetarians die younger and vegetarian kids are sicklier according to the Archives of Pediatrics Adolescent Medicine.

  7. Speaking for myself, my point wasn't so much that red meat is so bad for you -- it certainly does have some benefits -- but to get a clue as to how that meat comes from the animal to supermarket.

Go back and read the book, by a cattle rancher himself, that I posted earlier, or check out any of the other similar exposes on Amazon. If that doesn't turn you off eating meat I'm not sure anything will.

Another no-no, from the research I have read, is cow milk.

Yep, it's sure tough to live healthy in the modern world!

I understand all this probably sounds like "just another conspiracy theory", but think about it, just because YOU haven't heard any different doesn't mean it's not true. And you can hardly expect industry itself to come and tell you. Lol. How stupid are some people! That's like waiting for the tobacco companies to come and tell you smoking is bad.

I don't really we, as laymen, have any reason to doubt the veracity of the scientific community's research in this fields. It's so amusing to hear morons' rationalizations about their lifestyles, what they eat, etc.

Look, we all know people that ate meat forever, smoked three packs a day, etc etc and they lived to be 90. That's pretty lousy logic to me; just because it CAN happen, doesn't mean it WILL, or that it's LIKELY.

  8. you could eat protein powder and get all the protein you want. some protein powders only have 1 or 2 grams of fat and carbs with like 25g of protein.

  9. I know from personal experience that no group of people eat more red meat than the people involved in the production of it. So if they don't see some glaring problem and feel safe eating it then at least by their vote it is safe. As a former food inspector in the military I can tell you stories about almost any food that would make you squimish but look at the low instance of any foodborn diseases or cleanliness problems. With the vast numbers of people and the array of foods and delivery systems our food supply is the safest and most advanced ever and anywhere. About 135 years ago all but a few of my ancestors and their neighbors died from drinking from a pristine mountain stream. No pollution but it didn't do them any good. The whole little local cemetery is nearly filled with them and they all died in a two month period.

  10. great point. i remember once when i was < 10 years old... i was at a farm walking around looking at stuff. i saw some animal hanging by its head from some metal thing as a guy sliced it open. its guts were falling out as it was still screaming. if that doesn't bother you, you have some fucking problem.
